The Springer Children’s Theatre presents its most popular production, “The Big Friendly Giant,” April 24 – May 4.
Although all of the performances for school groups are sold out, the Springer education office has started a waiting list and Johanna Cabatingan encouraged groups that are hoping to go to call 706-324-1100 to get on the list because things change with school groups all the time.
The Springer Children’s Theatre performed “The Big Friendly Giant” in 2008 and 09. Both times the school performances filled up in record-breakingly short time.
“The Big Friendly Giant” tells the story of how little Sophie is snatched from her orphanage bedroom by a big friendly giant (BFG) who promises not to eat her in one scrumpdiddlyumptious mouthful! So of course, Sophie and the BFG become great friends and embark on fantastic adventures.
Roald Dahl’s whimsical story of friendship that overcomes big obstacles is consistently ranked in the top 100 chapter books.
“Roald Dahl is without question the most successful children’s writer in the world,” said Brian Appleyard in “The Independent.”
“The Big Friendly Giant” will have public performances at 7 p.m. the Fridays and Saturdays of April 26, 27, May 3 and 4, and at 2 p.m. on the Saturdays of April 27 and May 4.
This is a fantastic performance for families. It will be performed in the Springer second theatre in Foley Hall, which is entered from the 1st Avenue side of the building, next to the Mainstage Theatre, just one door north.
