Westfield San Francisco Centre has partnered with the Asian Art Museum to celebrate the Chinese New Year on February 10, 2013, as well as the spectacular upcoming exhibit China’s Terracotta Warriors: The First Emperor’s Legacy that will run from February 22 through May 27, 2013.
The Asian Art Museum brings a distinctive shopping experience to Westfield San Francisco Centre this January, offering visitors rare, handcrafted jewelry and artworks, colorful textiles and unique gifts as part of the Asian Art Museum Pop-Up Store, located on Level 2, January through April 2013. Visitors will be able to discover items celebrating the Lunar New Year and the museum’s acclaimed special exhibition, China’s Terracotta Warriors.
Special exhibits include an informative, fun display presented by the Asian Art Museum explaining why and how the Chinese New Year is celebrated, including interesting details about each of the twelve zodiac animals. Guests will be able to determine their zodiac signs and learn about each sign’s key characteristics. On Saturdays the display area, located on Level 2 near Bloomingdale’s, will be the site of storytelling and arts activities for guests of all ages. The Chinese New Year Zodiac will be on display from January 26 through February 28, 2013.
The Asian Art Museum will kick off its 10th anniversary in San Francisco’s Civic Center with an exhibition from one of the greatest archaeological discoveries in modern times. China’s Terracotta Warriors features 120 rare objects from the great tomb complex of China’s First Emperor (259-210 BCE), including 10 life-size terracotta figures. Visitors have the opportunity to discover new secrets about the First Emperor, his reign, and his quest for immortality. The Asian Art Museum Pop-Up Store will offer information about the displays and weekly storytelling, plus tickets to the exhibition will be available for purchase.
