Khiri Travel Strengthens Sustainable Tourism Leadership Across Asia

Khiri Travel
As travellers increasingly seek meaningful and responsible travel experiences, one of Asia’s leading destination management companies has unveiled new evidence of its commitment to sustainable tourism. Khiri Travel has released its latest Impact Report, highlighting significant achievements in environmental stewardship, community development and responsible travel practices across Southeast Asia.

The report provides valuable insight into how tourism can become a positive force for conservation, local communities and cultural preservation while continuing to deliver authentic and memorable travel experiences.

Major Sustainability Milestone Across Eight Asian Destinations

A standout achievement detailed in the report is Khiri Travel’s successful Global Sustainable Tourism Council certification across all eight destinations where the company operates.

Following an extensive company-wide audit process completed in December 2025, Khiri Travel achieved certification in Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Sri Lanka.

The certification reflects internationally recognised standards for sustainable tourism management and demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to responsible business practices throughout Asia.

The achievement was supported by dedicated Green Teams operating within each destination, helping ensure sustainability goals were integrated into daily operations.

Supporting Communities Through Tourism

Khiri Travel
Beyond environmental initiatives, the report highlights the important role tourism can play in supporting local communities.

Through Khiri Reach, the company’s charitable foundation, more than USD25,000 was invested into 14 projects during 2025 across seven Asian countries.

The projects addressed a wide range of community needs, including conservation, disaster relief, education and healthcare support.

Among the initiatives funded were nutrition programs for children living in remote villages in northern Laos, flood recovery assistance in Vietnam, gibbon rehabilitation projects in Thailand and earthquake response support in Myanmar.

Khiri Reach also partnered with community organisations in Bali to organise blood donation campaigns supporting local hospitals and healthcare services.

Promoting Responsible Travel Experiences

The report demonstrates how Khiri Travel continues to place responsible tourism at the centre of its business model.

A total of 95 staff members completed ChildSafe awareness training during the year, helping strengthen child protection measures throughout the organisation.

Additional sustainability training programs were delivered to guides, ensuring travellers receive informed and responsible experiences while exploring destinations across Asia.

Khiri Travel also collaborated with more than 47 responsible tourism hotels assessed through Hotel Resilient, further supporting sustainable accommodation choices for visitors.

These initiatives help create tourism experiences that benefit both travellers and the communities they visit.

Regenerative Tourism Creating Lasting Benefits

Khiri Travel
Khiri Travel Founder and Chief Executive Officer Willem Niemeijer believes tourism can be a powerful tool for positive change when managed responsibly.

The company's philosophy encourages visitors to explore destinations beyond traditional tourism hotspots, helping distribute economic benefits to lesser-known communities and regions.

This approach not only creates opportunities for local residents but also allows travellers to enjoy more authentic experiences and meaningful cultural connections.

By directing tourism revenue into emerging destinations, Khiri Travel aims to create a more balanced and inclusive visitor economy throughout Asia.

New Sustainability Goals for the Future

While celebrating recent achievements, the Impact Report also outlines ambitious plans for continued improvement.

The company intends to expand ChildSafe training programs to include leading guides, introduce a Sustainable Product Assessment framework and strengthen supplier engagement through a new Sustainability Supplier Code of Conduct.

Khiri Travel is also increasing collaboration with ethical tourism operators, including elephant camps certified under the Asian Captive Elephant Standards program.

These partnerships form part of a broader commitment to animal welfare and responsible wildlife tourism experiences.

The Four Pillars Guiding Sustainable Tourism

Khiri Travel
Khiri Travel’s sustainability strategy is inspired by the Four Cs framework promoted by global responsible tourism organisation The Long Run.

The framework focuses on conservation, community, culture and commerce, encouraging tourism businesses to balance environmental protection, social responsibility, cultural preservation and economic sustainability.

These principles continue to guide Khiri Travel’s operations and long-term vision for tourism development across Asia.

Why Sustainable Tourism Matters More Than Ever

Modern travellers increasingly want their holidays to have a positive impact on the destinations they visit.

Responsible tourism operators such as Khiri Travel demonstrate how travel experiences can contribute to environmental protection, community development and cultural preservation while still delivering exceptional visitor experiences.

As awareness of sustainable travel continues to grow, initiatives such as those highlighted in the 2025 Impact Report offer a valuable roadmap for the future of tourism in Asia and beyond.

By investing in people, places and conservation, Khiri Travel is helping shape a more sustainable future for the travel industry while creating richer and more meaningful journeys for travellers.

The Lind Hotels Helps Reshape Lifestyle Travel in the Philippines

The Lind Boracay
The Philippines is entering a new era in global tourism, and a fresh generation of independent Filipino hospitality brands is helping redefine what lifestyle travel in the country can look like. Long operating in the shadow of international hotel giants and larger Asian tourism markets, the Philippine hospitality sector is increasingly gaining recognition for design-led hotels, authentic guest experiences, wellness, culinary excellence and deeply personalised service.

Among the brands helping shape this transformation is The Lind Hotels, a proudly Filipino hospitality company that is steadily building a reputation for experience-driven travel, meaningful hospitality and contemporary luxury grounded in local identity.

The New Face Of Philippine Lifestyle Travel

Modern travellers are increasingly seeking accommodation experiences that go beyond traditional luxury. Authenticity, human connection, wellness, local culture and personalised service now sit high on the wish list of global travellers choosing where to stay.

The Lind Hotels has positioned itself within this evolving travel landscape by embracing a distinctly Filipino approach to hospitality.

“Our philosophy is that Philippine hospitality can resonate globally while still remaining proudly Filipino,” said Pierre Henrichs, Chief Operating Officer of The Lind Hotels. “Authenticity, warmth, creativity, and emotional connection are what travellers increasingly remember most.”

This philosophy reflects a wider movement across the Philippines, where independent hospitality brands are proving that world-class guest experiences can emerge from local vision, cultural confidence and homegrown innovation.

The Lind Boracay Sets A New Benchmark For Luxury In Boracay

The Lind Boracay
At the centre of the company’s success story is The Lind Boracay, located on White Beach Station 1, one of Boracay’s most exclusive and sought-after beachfront locations.

Renowned for its rare direct beachfront setting, stylish architecture and elevated guest experience, the resort has become a standout example of luxury accommodation in the Philippines.

However, its appeal extends beyond location alone. The Lind Boracay has cultivated a hospitality approach centred on intuitive service, emotional connection and a carefully curated guest journey designed to create memorable travel experiences.

Over the years, the resort has continued refining every aspect of its offering, from food and beverage experiences and wellness programmes to lifestyle activities and personalised guest care.

This ongoing evolution reflects changing traveller expectations, where experiential travel, wellness tourism and meaningful hospitality increasingly influence booking decisions.

Michelin Recognition Signals A Major Milestone For Filipino Hospitality

A defining moment arrived in 2025 with the debut of the MICHELIN Guide in the Philippines.

In a landmark achievement for both The Lind Hotels and the wider Philippine tourism industry, The Lind Boracay became the first and only hotel in Boracay to receive recognition from the guide.

The milestone placed the independent Filipino brand alongside globally recognised hospitality names and highlighted the growing international credibility of Philippine luxury hospitality.

For independent hotel operators in the Philippines, the recognition represents more than a single award. It signals rising confidence in locally developed brands capable of delivering internationally respected standards while remaining deeply connected to place and culture.

Wellness, Restoration And The Modern Guest Experience

The Lind Boracay
Wellness tourism continues to reshape the global travel landscape, and The Lind Hotels has embraced this trend through its long-standing partnership with The Spa Wellness.

Recognised as one of the Philippines’ pioneering wellness operators and the country’s first spa brand to achieve Superbrand status, The Spa Wellness brings an established philosophy of restoration, balance and holistic care into the resort environment.

As an accredited member of the International Spa Association, the wellness operator contributes to a guest experience that prioritises both physical wellbeing and emotional renewal.

This emphasis on wellness aligns closely with contemporary travel trends, where travellers increasingly prioritise restorative holidays, mindful experiences and accommodation that supports overall wellbeing.

A Decade Of Hospitality Evolution And Brand Renewal

During its tenth anniversary year, The Lind Hotels undertook a major reassessment of its brand direction, leading to a refreshed identity centred around human connection, purposeful hospitality and experience-led travel.

The rebrand represented a return to the company’s foundational philosophy — building stronger relationships across guests, teams, suppliers, travel partners and local communities.

The renewed focus extends across the entire guest journey, beginning from the earliest stages of trip planning and continuing throughout the travel experience.

“As part of our ten-year milestone, we went back to the drawing board and asked ourselves where we were ten years ago and where we are today,” Henrichs said.

“The entire brand has been refreshed. More than anything, we wanted to return to the human side of hospitality and focus on genuine connection at every touchpoint of the guest experience. Hospitality is about continual improvement and adapting to what modern travellers are looking for.”

Future Growth In Coron And Siargao Reflects Confidence In Philippine Tourism

The future of The Lind Hotels extends beyond Boracay.

Planned developments in Coron and Siargao highlight growing confidence in the strength of Philippine tourism and increasing international demand for nature-led, authentic and experience-driven travel.

Both destinations are widely celebrated for their natural beauty, marine environments, outdoor adventures and strong sense of place — qualities that continue attracting travellers seeking deeper and more meaningful holiday experiences.

As experiential tourism expands globally, destinations such as Coron and Siargao represent the next chapter in the Philippines’ evolving tourism story.

Why Independent Filipino Hospitality Brands Matter

The growing success of companies like The Lind Hotels demonstrates a broader shift within the Philippine tourism industry.

Travellers are increasingly prioritising authentic experiences over standardised luxury, creating new opportunities for locally developed hospitality brands to flourish.

Independent Filipino hotel groups are proving that globally competitive hospitality can be delivered without sacrificing local identity, cultural connection or personalised care.

“We believe the Philippines has the potential to become one of the world’s great hospitality destinations,” Henrichs said.

“There is incredible warmth here, extraordinary natural beauty, and a growing confidence among Filipino brands to create experiences that feel globally relevant while still remaining distinctly local.”

As Philippine tourism continues to evolve, The Lind Hotels stands as a compelling example of how independent hospitality brands are helping place the Philippines firmly on the global lifestyle travel map.

Bohol’s PADI Tide Dive Festival Captivates Chinese Market and Champions Sustainable Marine Tourism

PADI Ambassadors and Chinese divers
A Celebration of Diving, Culture, and Conservation in Panglao

Bohol Beach Club in Panglao, Bohol transformed into a vibrant hub of ocean advocacy and cultural exchange on November 8, 2025, as the PADI Tide Dive Festival brought together Chinese divers, Filipino dive professionals, tourism leaders, and sustainability advocates. The event, hosted by the Tourism Promotions Board Philippines and the Department of Tourism Shanghai Office in partnership with PADI China, marked a significant step in re-establishing the Philippines as the leading dive destination for the fast-growing Chinese market.

With its pristine waters, thriving ecosystems, and world-renowned dive sites, Bohol provided the perfect setting to highlight the country’s commitment to responsible tourism and marine preservation.

Marine Conservation Takes Centre Stage

One of the most impactful components of the festival was a large-scale conservation initiative involving the removal of invasive crown-of-thorns starfish. Guided by local marine NGOs and PADI’s Project AWARE, 100 Chinese divers and five PADI ambassadors worked together beneath Panglao’s tropical waters to protect coral reefs threatened by the destructive species.

This collective effort reflected the nation’s long-term dedication to preserving its marine biodiversity. Through hands-on participation, divers gained a deeper understanding of the environmental challenges facing the region and the role they can play in safeguarding it.

Dialogue and Collaboration for a Sustainable Dive Future

The removal of crown-of-thorns starfish
The afternoon featured a coastal forum and panel discussion, bringing together government representatives, sustainability experts, and dive industry leaders. The dialogue focused on sustainable tourism strategies, conservation best practices, and innovative partnerships that can secure the future of Bohol’s marine attractions.

Speakers including Tourism Attaché Francis Lardizabal, DOT Central Visayas’ Riza Marie S. Macaibay, and Bohol Provincial Tourism Office’s Joanne Pinat emphasized the importance of unified national and local efforts to nurture the destination’s natural assets. Their insights strengthened the festival’s mission to promote long-term, responsible dive tourism.

Cultural Performances Showcase Bohol’s Heritage

As evening approached, the festival shifted into a dynamic cultural celebration led by WinArts Dance Anatomy and the Lumad Panglaoanon Cultural Dance Troupe. Their performances highlighted the richness of Bohol’s traditions and offered visitors an authentic connection to local heritage.

The festivities concluded with networking sessions and an exciting raffle featuring dive equipment, resort stays, and airline tickets, reinforcing the strong support from tourism and hospitality partners throughout the province.

Positioning Bohol as a Premier Dive Destination

The PADI Tide Dive Festival reinforced Bohol’s growing reputation as a top-tier destination for divers seeking world-class underwater experiences paired with meaningful environmental engagement. With its exceptional dive sites and strong network of PADI-certified operators, the region is ideally positioned to welcome the return of international travellers.

TPB COO Maria Margarita Montemayor Nograles highlighted how the festival strengthens the Philippines’ brand on the global stage by integrating conservation into tourism experiences. She noted that inviting Chinese divers to participate in ecological protection fosters deeper connections and elevates the country’s standing as a responsible and sustainable dive destination.

A Milestone for International Tourism Partnerships

The success of the event underscored the powerful impact of collaboration between government agencies, local communities, and global dive organizations. TPB expressed gratitude to the Provincial Government of Bohol, Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado, and sponsors including Bohol Beach Club, BAHRR, Best Western Plus The Ivywall Resort-Panglao, and DOT Central Visayas.

Their combined efforts not only shaped a memorable festival but also set a new standard for future international engagements centered on sustainability, culture, and high-value tourism.
