Punthill Northbank - the latest edition to the Punthill Apartment Hotel group

There is something wonderful about staying in a new accomodation offering. I recently had the pleasure of staying several nights at the new Punthill Northbank Melbourne Apartment Hotel. This was opened at the end of last year, so every thing about this new 28 storey home away from home is smart and modern. The angled windows give the building a wow factor that makes it stand out from those around it.

The small lobby and reception area is welcoming, and is open 24 hours a day. I found the reception staff to be very kind and helpful. They checked me in smoothly and professionally. As this was my first time staying here they clearly explained the various features of the apartment hotel.

A range of guest apartments are available, including one and two bedroom apartments. My apartment was high up on the 21st floor looking towards the river. Other apartments face to the rear of the building.

My apartment had large windows that offered wonderful views over the river through thick laminated glass. Blackout curtains provided a dark room to sleep in at night.

I found my modern apartment had all the facilities I needed and much more. It was accessed by one of two lifts and entered by an electronic swipe card. For my comfort it was climate controlled with an air conditioner.

The compact apartment had a combined kitchen/diner/lounge area, bathroom/toilet and separate bedroom. All were spotlessly clean.

The living area was a comfortable place to relax in with a dining table, sofa, coffee table, lamps and flat screen TV with Foxtel channels.

The kitchen area had all that you would ever need in a kitchen. It was fully equiped with an oven, hob, microwave, full fridge/freezer and dishwasher plus all the required cooking utensils. Ideal for those wanting to do there own cooking whilst staying there! However, to save time cooking, I dined out at the various nearby restaurants and cafes. The breakfasts each morning were delicious.

The white and bright bathroom housed a shower, toilet, vanity basin and even a clothes washer and dryer. A good range of complementary Appelles Apothecary & Lab toiletries were provided.

The seperate bedroom had a queen sized soft bed and range of pillows. The bed linen was crisp and clean. The bed and bedding were very comfortable and provided me with a great sleep at night. It was nice to see that my apartment was serviced daily.

The cafe/bar on the ground floor next to reception was a handy spot to grab a quick drink. Each morning I ate breakfast, where I chose a different menu option each morning. Each breakfast was delicious and came with fresh juice and barista coffee.

The gym and balcony on 28th floor are well worth a visit. The gym contains a couple of treadmills, bikes and exercise machine. I did not make use of the gym, but I enjoyed the great view from the balcony over the river and South Bank.

In addition to being new, the other great thing about the Punthill Northbank Melbourne Apartment Hotel is its location. It is located in Flinders Street, near Spencer Street. The location makes it within easy walking distance of all that Melbourne has to offer, including the Crown Casino complex, the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, DFO Southbank, and the Sea Life Aquarium. There is a tram stop right outside the hotel which is in the free tram zone. Trams 70, 75 and the City Circle 35 connect you with all the great retail and entertainment offerings in the Melbourne CBD.

Getting to the Punthill Northbank Melbourne Apartment Hotel is easy by several transport options. It is nearby the Southern Cross Station, where the country trains and the SkyBus from the airport go to. Car parking, arranged via reception, is available at a nearby car park.
