Ho Chi Minh City Set to Dazzle with 30 Fireworks Shows on April 30

Ho Chi Minh City plans to launch fireworks at 30 locations
on April 30 to celebrate the National Reunification Day
Lighting the Skies in Celebration of 50 Years of Reunification

This April 30, Ho Chi Minh City will be illuminated like never before as the southern metropolis celebrates the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification with an extraordinary display of fireworks across 30 locations. The event promises to be one of the city’s largest and most colorful celebrations in recent years, bringing together residents and visitors in a moment of national pride and unity.

High and Low: Fireworks Across the Cityscape

From 9:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., the city’s skyline will light up with two high-altitude firework displays at key locations: the Sai Gon River Tunnel area in Thu Duc City and the Ben Duoc Memorial Temple in Cu Chi District.

Joining them will be 28 low-altitude fireworks sites spread across Ho Chi Minh City’s districts and surrounding areas. These include landmarks such as Thong Nhat Hall, Ba Son Bridge, Thanh Da Peninsula, and Dam Sen Cultural Park. The aim is clear: to ensure every corner of the city, from central boulevards to suburban neighborhoods, shares in the spectacle.

Special Launch Sites on Water and Urban Hubs

Some of the most scenic views are expected at water-based firework sites along the Rach Chiec area, the Saigon River, Ben Bach Dang Wharf, and Van Phuc Urban Area. These locations promise a spectacular view of the fireworks reflecting off the river’s surface, creating a breathtaking night-time experience for spectators.

Extended Celebrations on the Weekends

To build momentum for the grand celebration, Ho Chi Minh City will also host two high-altitude fireworks events on the preceding Saturday evenings, April 19 and April 26. These displays will take place at Sai Gon Riverside Park in Thu Duc City from 9:30 p.m. to 9:40 p.m., offering an early taste of the city’s festive energy.

Parades, Performances, and a Citywide Salute

The festivities on April 30 begin at 6:30 a.m. with a national-level ceremony and a military-civilian parade along Le Duan Street. The program includes flag-saluting, addresses from national leaders, and a symbolic release of balloons and doves. This will be followed by a 30-minute cultural and musical performance paying tribute to the history and spirit of national reunification.

To ensure everything runs seamlessly, full dress rehearsals for the parade are scheduled for April 18 and 22, with joint drills for the armed forces held earlier in the month in Bien Hoa City.

A Landmark Moment for Locals and Visitors Alike

Whether you're a lifelong resident or a first-time traveler, this April 30 offers a rare opportunity to witness history in motion. The scale and symbolism of the celebrations reflect the importance of this golden milestone in Vietnam’s journey, making it a must-experience event for all.

Kailasa Temple: A Divine Marvel in the Heart of Ellora Caves

Kailasa Temple
The Kailasa Temple, an architectural and engineering wonder, stands as one of the most magnificent and mysterious structures in India. Located within the Ellora Caves in Maharashtra, this 8th-century temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is carved entirely from a single rock, and its sheer scale and intricate craftsmanship leave visitors in awe. Its completion in just 18 years has sparked speculation about the involvement of divine forces or even extraterrestrial help in its creation. This extraordinary monument not only celebrates Lord Shiva but also stands as a testament to the brilliance of ancient Indian artisanship.

An Engineering Wonder Carved from Stone

One of the most captivating aspects of the Kailasa Temple is the fact that it was carved from a single massive rock. Unlike most traditional temples, which are built by assembling stones or bricks, the Kailasa Temple was excavated out of a vertical rock face. The artisans did not simply add material to the structure; they removed vast amounts of rock to reveal the temple’s intricate carvings, rooms, courtyards, and towering spires.

This feat of engineering is even more remarkable given the time period in which it was constructed. Built during the Rashtrakuta dynasty, the temple took just 18 years to complete, a timeline that has fascinated historians and architects alike. The precision and scale of the carvings, including massive sculptures, intricate panels, and detailed reliefs, suggest a level of sophistication that was far ahead of its time.

A Reflection of Mount Kailash

The Kailasa Temple is believed to be a symbolic representation of Mount Kailash, the mythical home of Lord Shiva, located in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. Mount Kailash is considered one of the holiest mountains in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Bon. The temple’s layout, design, and grandeur are said to mirror the sacred mountain, further enhancing its spiritual significance.

The temple complex features an impressive vertical structure with large carvings depicting stories from Hindu mythology. The centerpiece of the temple is a massive sculpture of Lord Shiva in his majestic form, surrounded by numerous other figures of deities and mythological characters. The design of the temple is so precise that it seems to align perfectly with celestial bodies during certain times of the year, adding to the belief that divine forces may have guided its construction.

The Mystery Behind the Construction

Kailasa Temple
The Kailasa Temple’s sheer scale and the intricacy of its carvings have given rise to many theories over the years. Some believe that the craftsmanship involved in creating such a masterpiece was far beyond the technological capabilities of the time. Speculation has even suggested the possibility of divine intervention or extraterrestrial help in the temple’s creation.

The precision with which the temple was carved—down to the smallest details—raises questions about the methods and tools used. With no evidence of cranes or large-scale mechanical equipment, the construction of the Kailasa Temple remains one of the greatest mysteries of ancient Indian architecture. Many visitors leave the site wondering how the artisans of the time managed to achieve such perfection using only rudimentary tools and techniques.

A Spiritual Journey Through Time

The Kailasa Temple is more than just an architectural wonder—it is also a place of deep spiritual significance. As a center of worship dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple attracts pilgrims from all over the world. Visitors who come to the temple are not only captivated by its beauty but are also drawn to the tranquil and mystical atmosphere that surrounds the site.

The temple’s carvings, which depict various scenes from Hindu mythology, offer a glimpse into the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of India. The intricate artwork and grandeur of the temple’s design invite visitors to reflect on the divine and the power of faith, making it a profoundly spiritual experience.

Ellora Caves: The Larger Context

The Kailasa Temple is just one of the many remarkable structures located in the Ellora Caves complex. Ellora is home to over 30 caves, each representing different faiths, including Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. The caves are a testament to the religious tolerance and artistic brilliance of ancient India. While the Kailasa Temple stands out as the largest and most impressive, the other caves in the complex also contain beautiful sculptures and carvings that reflect the religious diversity and cultural richness of the region.

Ellora, as a whole, is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Kailasa Temple is undoubtedly the highlight of the complex. The combination of historical significance, spiritual importance, and architectural brilliance makes the Kailasa Temple a must-visit destination for anyone interested in exploring India’s rich cultural and religious heritage.

Conclusion: A Timeless Masterpiece

The Kailasa Temple at Ellora Caves remains one of the most awe-inspiring architectural achievements of ancient India. Its extraordinary design, intricate carvings, and the mystery surrounding its construction continue to captivate visitors from around the world. As a symbol of Lord Shiva and a reflection of the divine, the Kailasa Temple is more than just a monument; it is a testament to the enduring power of faith, art, and human ingenuity. Whether you are a history enthusiast, a spiritual seeker, or simply an admirer of architectural wonders, a visit to the Kailasa Temple is an experience you will never forget.

EASTER BILBIES AND MOTHER’S DAY DESERT WILDFLOWER BLOOMS – FAMILY FUN SPRINGS IN THE HEART OF AUSTRALIA

The renowned Alice Springs Desert Park, set at the foot of the stunning Tjoritja/West MacDonnell Ranges, have revealed their special Easter program running from 18–21 April 2025. Families can enjoy a range of activities including an Easter treasure hunt, colouring competition, and nocturnal talks with the Easter Bilby and friends – offering fun for all ages.

“We’re inviting everyone to celebrate Easter in true Aussie style – with our beloved bilbies! Join us for nocturnal talks, Easter egg hunts, and plenty of other fun activities. And then to round out the school holidays we will commemorate Anzac Day at the park and have echidna and dingo encounters available for the public,” said Holly Wyatt – Business Development Coordinator from the Desert Park.

“We are part of a national conservation program to protect the endangered bilby, and our bilbies have had babies over the years – it’s our way of helping to boost their population. By purchasing an Alice Springs Desert Park membership or choosing to spend Easter with us it will directly support our conservation efforts.”

Looking ahead to May, Alice Springs Desert Park is preparing a heartwarming celebration for Mother’s Day. Thanks to recent early rains, desert wildflowers are already beginning to bloom, promising a spectacular display of colour just in time for the occasion.

Even the park’s resident matriarchs are getting ready to mark the day. Among them, the fascinating stick-nest rats – known for building intricate nests and living cooperatively in female-led family groups – will be celebrating in true Mother’s Day style. These clever creatures only welcome males for conjugal visits, otherwise leaving them to live solo in simple burrows.

Also marking a milestone this year are the park’s new young thorny devils and their devoted mum as well as our new tawny frog mouth babies who will celebrate their very first Mother’s Day.

Across the park, mother animals have played a vital role in the success of conservation breeding programs, having welcomed 362 baby animals – many from species that are vulnerable, endangered, or extinct in the wild.

Since the project began, 300 red-tailed phascogales have been born, including more than 70 in the past year alone. The program has also seen the birth of 46 central rock-rat pups, 10 brush-tailed mulgara (now with their own exhibit in the Nocturnal House), and six greater bilbies born since 2022.

“Why settle for a bouquet that lasts a week when you can gift Mum a whole year of natural beauty?” said Holly Wyatt.

“For just $79, an annual Alice Springs Desert Park membership gives her access to vibrant wildflower displays and the chance to experience the park’s changing beauty all year round – and our café will also have specials for Mother’s Day. And if she visits again in late May, she can take part in our 10th annual Botanic Gardens Week.”

Running from 19–25 May 2025, Botanic Gardens Week celebrates Alice Springs Desert Park as a registered botanic garden and an active member of the Australian Seed Bank Partnership. Home to more than 400 Central Australian plant species - including several rare and threatened varieties – the park collaborates with 15 partner organisations across Australia, as well as the prestigious Millennium Seed Bank at Kew Gardens in the UK.

Despite the region’s arid climate, Central Australia boasts an extraordinary variety of plant life. These species provide food, medicine, and artistic inspiration through their vivid blooms, and they hold deep cultural significance for Aboriginal communities. They also form critical habitats for some of Australia’s most endangered wildlife.

Alice Springs Desert Park continues to champion conservation and education, working to protect this delicate and unique ecosystem.

During Botanic Gardens Week, visitors can enjoy a series of engaging botany talks designed to deepen their understanding and appreciation of Central Australia’s remarkable flora.

This May also marks the launch of the Alice Springs Desert Park’s new booking system, making it easier than ever to purchase memberships and donate online – helping the community support vital conservation work with just a few clicks.

Sydney will once again host SailGP in 2026

SailGP
Sydney will once again take centre stage on the global sporting calendar, with the NSW Government securing the return of SailGP to the Harbour City in February 2026.

A showcase of speed, skill and spectacle, SailGP brings the world’s best sailors and high-tech foiling catamarans to one of the world’s most iconic natural amphitheatres. First launched in Sydney in 2019, the championship has since become a global phenomenon — and a key event in NSW’s major events calendar.

Since 2021, SailGP has been broadcast to international audiences from Sydney Harbour, capturing the imagination of sports fans and inspiring future visitors. The 2025 event attracted a dedicated global TV audience of 21.1 million, according to YouGov.

Sydney will join premier global destinations including New York, Rio de Janeiro and Saint-Tropez as part of SailGP’s sixth season. The 2026 edition will feature teams from Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland and the United States.

Thousands of visitors are expected to descend on the harbour foreshore for the two-day race weekend, supported by lead-in training sessions, media opportunities and fan activations — delivering a welcome boost to the state’s visitor economy.

The NSW Government’s continuing support for SailGP is part of its broader strategy to build a dynamic year-round calendar of global events, boosting tourism, jobs and the economy as NSW accelerates toward its target of $91 billion in total visitor expenditure by 2035.

Minister for Jobs and Tourism, Steve Kamper, said: “Sydney is one of the world’s great sporting stages, and there’s no better backdrop for SailGP than our spectacular harbour. We’re proud to support the return of this world-class event in 2026, welcoming the globe’s top sailing teams back to where it all began.

“With tens of millions watching from around the world, SailGP not only showcases the thrill of elite sport but also shines a global spotlight on our city’s natural beauty and visitor appeal.”

Sail GP CEO Sir Russell Coutts said: "We’ve had unprecedented interest from cities around the world, SailGP is excited to release a first preview of what fans can expect from the 2026 Season, including the return of some of the most iconic race stadium destinations on the calendar.

“We had our very first event in Sydney Harbour in 2019 and the venue consistently delivers some of the most thrilling racing on the SailGP calendar every year. These familiar venues not only offer unparalleled racing conditions but also serve as crucial touchpoints for building lasting relationships with fans and sponsors.”
