ATIA Champions Members with National Media Campaign for Global Travel Advisors Day

A Day Dedicated to Travel Expertise

On 6 May, the spotlight turns to the professionals who quietly shape some of the world’s most memorable journeys. Global Travel Advisors Day recognises the expertise, dedication, and resilience of travel advisors who support clients across every type of यात्रा, from dream holidays to complex business itineraries.

In 2026, the celebration is being elevated through a national media campaign led by the Australian Travel Industry Association (ATIA), placing the vital role of accredited travel professionals front and centre across Australia.

A National Campaign with Real Stories

ATIA’s campaign focuses on real member stories that highlight the value travel advisors bring to their clients. From navigating last-minute disruptions to crafting seamless, personalised itineraries, these stories reveal the human side of the travel industry.

Across mainstream media and social platforms, accredited agents and tour operators are sharing case studies that demonstrate how their expertise often turns challenging situations into positive outcomes. These real-world examples showcase not just service, but trust, problem-solving, and genuine care.

Empowering Members to Shine

To maximise impact, ATIA has equipped its members with a comprehensive campaign toolkit. This includes branded digital assets, in-store materials, and client communication templates designed to help advisors promote their services within their own communities.

Members are encouraged to join the conversation online using campaign hashtags and social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram. This coordinated effort ensures a consistent and powerful message reaches audiences nationwide.

The Value of Professional Travel Advice

In an era where online bookings are just a click away, the role of the travel advisor has never been more important. Accredited professionals provide tailored recommendations, insider knowledge, and real-time support that technology alone cannot replicate.

Whether organising complex international itineraries or ensuring peace of mind during unexpected disruptions, travel advisors deliver a level of service that transforms travel from a transaction into an experience.

Industry Leadership and Vision

According to ATIA CEO Dean Long, the campaign is about recognising the extraordinary efforts of members who consistently go above and beyond for their clients.

He emphasised that while ATIA drives the national campaign, its members remain focused on what they do best, delivering exceptional service and care to travellers every day. This balance between industry promotion and client service is what continues to strengthen the sector’s reputation.

Strengthening Communities Through Travel

Beyond individual journeys, travel advisors play a broader role in supporting local economies and global connections. By working with trusted suppliers, promoting sustainable travel options, and encouraging responsible tourism, they contribute to a more resilient and connected travel industry.

Initiatives like Global Travel Advisors Day also help raise awareness of the professionalism and accreditation standards that underpin the industry, building confidence among travellers.

Why This Celebration Matters for Travellers

For travellers, this annual event is a reminder of the value of expert guidance when planning a trip. Whether it is securing the best experiences, managing logistics, or providing reassurance in uncertain times, travel advisors remain an essential part of the journey.

As the travel landscape continues to evolve, their role is becoming increasingly sophisticated, blending technology with personalised service to deliver seamless travel experiences.

Thailand Travel Mart Plus 2025 Achieves Carbon Neutral Event Self Declaration

Thailand Travel Mart Plus (TTM+) 2025
Chiang Mai event confirms Thailand’s leadership in sustainable tourism through decisive carbon reduction and meaningful community action.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is pleased to announce that the Thailand Travel Mart Plus (TTM+) 2025, held from 4 to 6 June in Chiang Mai, has officially achieved Carbon Neutral Event Self Declaration status, marking a major milestone in Thailand’s commitment to sustainable tourism and environmental responsibility.

TAT Governor, Ms Thapanee Kiatphaibool, stated that sustainability is the foundation of all TAT initiatives. “TTM+ is not only a vital international tourism business platform but also a direct reflection of TAT’s mission to drive responsible tourism that benefits both people and the planet. The Carbon Neutral Event Self Declaration at TTM+ 2025 is a clear demonstration of that vision in action.”

To achieve this status, TAT partnered with the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) to monitor and calculate carbon emissions generated at the event’s venue, the Royal Park Rajapruek. All emissions were fully offset through the Carbon Knox Declaration platform, positioning TTM+ 2025 as a leading example of low-impact tourism events in the region.

Thailand Travel Mart Plus (TTM+) 2025
The event succeeded in reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 669.84 kgCO₂eq—equivalent to the carbon absorption capacity of 47 trees—and diverted 1,080.63 kilograms of waste from landfill through a comprehensive sorting and recycling system. Waste was categorised into 555 kilograms of general waste, 425 kilograms of food scraps, and 100.63 kilograms of recyclable materials.

TAT also collaborated with Central Tham and Recycle Day to manage waste responsibly. Organic waste was sent to Chiang Mai University for biogas production, while PET plastics and other recyclables were delivered to appropriate processing centres.

In support of the event’s zero food waste strategy, surplus cooked meals that had not been served were distributed to nearby communities. A total of 300 food and water packages were delivered to the Wat Don Chan Orphanage and the Northern School for the Blind in Chiang Mai, extending the positive impact of the event beyond its environmental goals.

Adding to the success, TTM+ 2025 surpassed its target with over 13,000 scheduled business appointments. The event brought together 406 buyers from 51 countries, 450 sellers, and 117 media representatives, further strengthening Thailand’s position as a tourism hub committed to sustainable growth.

TAT Supports Zeekr’s EV Caravan Journey to Thailand: A Milestone in Sustainable Tourism and Thailand-China Relations

EV caravan
In an exciting development for both sustainable tourism and cross-border collaboration, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is proud to support Zeekr’s groundbreaking electric vehicle (EV) caravan, a journey that highlights Thailand’s commitment to eco-friendly tourism and strengthens its growing ties with China. This innovative initiative marks a significant milestone as Thailand and China prepare to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations in 2025.

Zeekr, a leading Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, embarked on its EV caravan in late November 2024. The caravan, consisting of 12 state-of-the-art electric vehicles and 48 participants, began its journey in China, traversing Laos before crossing into Thailand on November 26. The caravan’s destination is the 41st Thailand International Motor Expo, taking place from November 29 to December 10, 2024, at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani. There, Zeekr will showcase its cutting-edge EV technology and highlight the growing importance of electric mobility in the region.

A Warm Welcome to Thailand

Upon arrival in Thailand, the caravan was officially welcomed in Nong Khai Province by Mr. Rattasart Chitchoo, Deputy Governor of Nong Khai, in a reception hosted by TAT. The event, attended by local officials and representatives from various sectors, highlighted Thailand’s commitment to maintaining high safety and service standards for international visitors. The reception also underscored the country’s eagerness to embrace sustainable tourism practices while fostering stronger international relationships.

“This event is a clear example of TAT’s ongoing efforts to promote sustainable tourism and position Thailand as a leader in eco-friendly travel,” said Ms. Tharinee Somboon, TAT Deputy Director for the East Asia Region. “By supporting this pioneering EV caravan, we aim to not only promote environmentally responsible travel but also showcase Thailand’s growing role in the sustainable tourism sector.”

Highlighting Cross-Border Travel and EV Tourism

The caravan's journey through Thailand includes visits to key provinces such as Nong Khai, Udon Thani, and Pattaya. These destinations are part of TAT’s broader strategy to expand the reach of Thailand’s tourism offerings in the eastern regions of China, particularly among environmentally conscious travellers. The route also shines a spotlight on Thailand’s potential as a hub for electric vehicle tourism—a rapidly growing sector in Southeast Asia.

As the caravan makes its way through the region, it offers an opportunity to promote Thailand’s natural beauty and diverse attractions while reinforcing the importance of sustainable travel. By showcasing the EV caravan’s journey, TAT hopes to raise awareness of Thailand as an eco-friendly destination, attracting like-minded travellers who value both adventure and environmental responsibility.

Strengthening Thailand-China Tourism Ties

Beyond its environmental impact, the arrival of the Zeekr caravan is poised to have a significant influence on the growing Chinese tourist market. With over 6 million Chinese tourists visiting Thailand between January and November 2024, China has become Thailand’s largest source of international visitors. Chinese travellers are particularly drawn to Thailand’s renowned hospitality, stunning landscapes, and rich culinary heritage—elements that the caravan’s route is set to highlight.

The collaboration with Zeekr also offers an exciting opportunity to further enhance Thailand’s visibility in China. The exposure generated by the EV caravan is expected to reach over 100 million people across both countries, reinforcing Thailand’s status as a premier travel destination. The project will also spotlight the scenic attractions along the caravan’s route, boosting recognition of Thailand’s lesser-known gems among Chinese tourists.

Looking Ahead: The Future of Sustainable Tourism

The Zeekr EV caravan journey is not just a one-time event but part of a larger vision for sustainable, cross-border tourism. With eco-friendly travel becoming an increasing priority for travellers around the world, TAT is positioning Thailand as a key player in the growing market for green tourism. This collaboration with Zeekr serves as a testament to the country’s dedication to promoting responsible travel practices while continuing to nurture valuable diplomatic and cultural ties with China.

As Thailand and China prepare to mark the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations in 2025, initiatives like the Zeekr EV caravan will continue to play an important role in fostering understanding and cooperation between the two nations—while also paving the way for a more sustainable and connected future in tourism.

For travellers and enthusiasts of eco-tourism, the Zeekr EV caravan offers a unique and exciting glimpse into the future of sustainable cross-border travel, while also reaffirming Thailand’s role as a leader in green tourism in Southeast Asia.
