Celebrating the Storytellers: TravMedia Awards Asia Launches to Honour Travel’s Best Voices

TravMedia Awards
The First Pan-Asian Awards for Travel Media and PR

A new chapter in travel storytelling is being written with the launch of the TravMedia Awards Asia—the first awards program of its kind dedicated to recognising outstanding contributions in travel writing, public relations, and content creation across 14 Asian countries.

Spearheaded by TravMedia, the global media network that connects the travel industry with journalists and content creators, these awards aim to spotlight the people and platforms shaping how the world sees and experiences travel across the continent.

Setting a New Benchmark for Excellence

In a region as diverse and dynamic as Asia, these awards mark a timely and significant milestone. The TravMedia Awards Asia have been designed to highlight the storytellers at the heart of the travel sector—from journalists and influencers to PR professionals and content teams—whose work inspires journeys and ignites wanderlust.

According to TravMedia Founder and CEO, Nick Wayland, the initiative is about more than accolades.
“It’s not just about recognition,” he said. “It’s about raising the bar, fostering talent, and supporting a thriving travel media ecosystem across Asia. Through these awards, we’re promoting excellence and collaboration, while honouring the individuals and teams leading the way.”

Eight Categories Celebrating Creative Talent

The 2025 TravMedia Awards Asia will present honours across eight prestigious categories:

TravMedia Awards
Media Awards

  • Travel Section of the Year
  • Travel Magazine of the Year
  • Lifetime Achievement Award

PR Awards

Culminating at IMM Asia in Singapore

The winners will be revealed during IMM Asia, TravMedia’s signature networking event, taking place in Singapore on 14 October 2025. IMM brings together travel media and tourism brands for a day of appointments and connection, making it the perfect stage for unveiling the region’s top travel communicators.

Finalists Announced for the TravMedia Awards 2025

TravMedia Awards UK 2025
The finalists for the TravMedia Awards UK 2025 were announced in a special YouTube broadcast today, revealing which media, PR and content creators are headed to Awards night at The Londoner, Leicester Square on Monday 12 May.

The TravMedia Awards (https://travmedia.com/awards/) are now the leading global awards platform for the travel media, travel communicators and travel content creators, with ceremonies in 2025 in the UK, France, Asia and Australia.

The UK Awards (https://travmedia.com/awardsuk/) honour the finest journalistic, influencer and PR achievements in travel, and attracted another record response this year, with registrations up a staggering 20%.

Broadcast presenters Louise Napier, Managing Director of Travel UK and Henry Hemming, Global Adviser to TravMedia, announced finalists across 27 categories.

New categories this year include a Luxury Travel Writer of the Year category which garnered a huge response. This underlines TravMedia's commitment the sector, with the company having just launched a global luxury event, IMM Lux, taking place at The Venetian, Las Vegas (1-2 October 2025).

The most popular category of last year, Specialist Travel Writer of the Year, was split for 2025 into two categories: Specialist Travel Writer of the Year (Destination) and Specialist Travel Writer of the Year (Topic), which each garnered over 90 entries, meaning Freelance Travel Writer won out as most popular category for 2025 with over 100 entries.

Major highlights of Awards night include the revelation of the Travel Writer of the Year, Content Creator of the Year and PR Professional of the Year. Special Awards also include a Diversity Champion of the Year – for which the shortlist will soon be revealed – and an Outstanding Contribution Award.

Said Louise Napier, Managing Director of Travel UK: “We are thrilled for all the finalists, and offer deepest commiserations to anyone who just missed out. The quality of entries was simply out of this world – which feels appropriate!

“The record entry shows how far the TravMedia Awards have come and how respected they are. It's brilliant that there are also Awards ceremonies this year in other regions of the world – the Awards are going global!”

The reputation of the Awards also depends heavily on the judges appointed to review entries. This year's line-up of judges yet again comprises an array of talent from across the media, communications and the wider travel industry. As with all previous years, TravMedia has ensured lots of change, with 15 of the 38 selected judges not involved in the Awards in 2024, and with any returning judges handed fresh categories to adjudicate.

This year's TravMedia Awards category sponsors are Gran Canaria Tourism; Hyatt Hotels; MMGY; Princess Cruises; Switzerland Tourism; Rocky Mountaineer; Tourism Australia; True Traveller; VisitPITTSBURGH and Visit San Antonio. The drinks reception sponsor is once again Hong Kong, and the destination sponsor is Universal Destinations & Experiences.

On Awards night, a celebrity host will drive the show and sponsors' tables will host finalists from their chosen category. The evening's big reveals will segue within a three-course dinner, following a welcome drinks reception, and the night will climax with an after-party. Last year's event attracted a packed audience of 300 people with Rylan the celebrity host.

Added Napier: “A few sponsorship opportunities remain available for the big night. Last year all media categories sold out after the finalists announcement, and this looks set to happen again, so anyone interested should move quickly! Beyond that, sponsorship opportunities include the awards after-party, the photobooth, and sponsoring the celebrity host – whose name we will reveal in the coming days…!”

Alternatively, TravMedia has a limited number of tables and individual tickets available.

A full list of the finalists can be found here: https://travmedia.com/awardsuk/2025-finalists.html.

The Awards are organised by TravMedia, the leading social network connecting the global travel industry with media and influencers. The Awards are independent, not linked to any grouping or association, and are open to all journalists, influencers, and PR professionals. The Awards are adjudicated by an expert panel of 38 judges (listed below) from across the travel industry, including senior media figures, communications heads and commentators, and top industry executives.

The event enjoyed headline sponsorship from Australia with other sponsors including Flight Centre, Azerbaijan Tourism Board, Pure Michigan & Visit Detroit, and VisitEngland.

Now in its 12th year, IMM is established as the must-attend annual event for travel and tourism brands to make media connections, nurture established relationships, and catch up with industry friends.

Louise Napier, TravMedia UK's Managing Director, said: “The Summit has proved a massive success at IMMs worldwide, and we are thrilled to launch our version with such a spectacular line-up of speaking talent. The day will generate an intense debate on the biggest issues facing our industry.”

IMM 2024 will provide exhibitors with an exponential return on investment from two highly productive days of activity. Timed, pre-scheduled 15-minute meetings between exhibitors and journalists remain the cornerstone of the event. Alongside breakfasts and lunches, and socialising at the IMM evening drinks party at the end of day one, the event will introduce further breaks between meetings – providing more focus in the meetings and further informal networking.

IMM Virtual 2021 in UK Announced

The travel industry's leading media event runs online in the UK from 17-19 May 2021

TravMedia UK has announced the launch of IMM Virtual 2021, a three-day online event connecting the global travel industry with the UK media, running from 17-19 May 2021 (https://travmedia.com/immuk).

IMM is the showpiece media event for the worldwide travel industry and IMM Virtual 2021 will enable organisations to enjoy 24 meetings across three days with the UK's most powerful travel journalists. The event replaces the face-to-face IMM scheduled for 17-18 May which had been due to take place at IMM's long-term home, the QEII Centre in London.

Worldwide tourism and travel brands interested in learning more about IMM Virtual 2021 are encouraged to join an 'IMM Virtual 2021 – Your Questions Answered' webinar on Tuesday 30 Mar 2021 (2:00 PM GMT). Registration for the free webinar is available here: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_6BRFFStbRdG9G1Z3DFtaMw

The 'IMM Virtual' technology has operated successfully worldwide during the last year, with events organised by TravMedia in North America, Asia, Germany, and Australia. Tourist boards and industry bodies have also harnessed TravMedia's technology for their own meetings events.

IMM Virtual 2021 registration for travel brands, media and influencers is now open. Journalists already confirmed for the UK show represent media titles including BBC, The Times, The Telegraph, The Sun, City AM, Fabulous, Men's Health and TTG.

Organisations already signed up include Atout France, Cayman Islands Department of Tourism, Croatian National Tourist Board, German National Tourist Office, Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau, Tourism British Columbia, VisitDenmark, Visit Portugal, and wider industry brands such as HF Holidays, Musée de la Romanité, and Rocky Mountaineer.

Delegates attending IMM Virtual 2021 can also join focused networking groups and a travel editors' panel session, and so enjoy the complete IMM experience online. Sponsorship opportunities include press conferences, banner ads and branded goods.

Since its creation in the UK in 2013, IMM has grown to become the leading global event connecting the travel industry and media, with shows held annually worldwide. Last March in London, IMM hosted almost 400 journalists and influencers, who met with over 160 travel and tourism brands (full exhibitor list below).

For 2021, the show's ninth year, the three days of targeted meetings will be pre-booked through IMM's usual Meetings Manager platform. Everyone's entire IMM day will be delivered to delegates' PC screens, with just one button click needed to commence the day.

PR representatives will hold meetings from the comfort of their own branded exhibitor 'booth', featuring destination backdrops, introductory videos, and downloadable media assets.

Exhibitor bookings for IMM Virtual 2021 start from just £695 (TravMedia UK customers only) and £795 for all other organisations. Prices will increase from 26 March, at the end of IMM Virtual's earlybird booking period. However, the early bird prices will be extended for one week (until 2 April) for all brands that attend the webinar on 30 March.

Said Henry Hemming, TravMedia UK's Managing Director: “All our industry customers worldwide can look forward to three energised days in May! Naturally we are hugely disappointed that we had to move from a face-to-face IMM to a virtual show on this occasion as we know how much IMM in London means to our media and PR representatives.”

He added: “With travel edging back to normality in the months ahead, and a halcyon booking period for the industry anticipated, we're predicting our virtual event in May will sell out.”

TravMedia also announced today that The TravMedia Awards, launched in 2020 with the debut ceremony held on the final night of IMM, hosted by celebrity John Humphrys, will now be held this Autumn, and separated from IMM. Amongst the most hotly contested awards will be Travel Journalist of the Year, PR Professional of the Year, and Influencer of the Year. The evening also features an Outstanding Contribution Award. The site and entry process will be launched soon, TravMedia confirmed.
