Following the success of previous festivals, the 10th Buckwheat Flower Festival in 2024 with the theme "The Land of Missing Flowers" will officially open at 8:00 p.m. on November 9 at the Youth Square of Dong Van district (Ha Giang province).

This year's festival promises to have many attractive and unique cultural activities, taking place from November 9 to November 21, such as: Competition to display and introduce traditional costumes of ethnic groups in Dong Van district; demonstration and experience of linen weaving; hand embroidery of traditional costumes; making of daily necessities and traditional musical instruments; display and introduction of cultural products, tourism, agricultural products, cuisine and local medicinal herbs;...

Recently, along with the northern provinces, Ha Giang is one of the localities heavily affected by rain and floods, a number of cultural and tourism events had to be stopped, many tourists canceled their tours. However, thanks to the efforts of the authorities, up to now, tourism activities have returned to normal, with many measures to ensure safety for tourists being implemented synchronously.

National Highway 2 has been opened to traffic, tourist boats on the Nho Que River have resumed operations, and traffic on Ma Pi Leng Pass is no longer difficult.

Along with ensuring safety in travel and accommodation, Ha Giang is implementing a number of measures to stimulate tourism recovery. In particular, the Provincial Tourism Association has called on members and tourism businesses to respond to the stimulus program, reducing service prices by 10 - 30%, from mid-September 2024 to the end of the peak tourist season in early February 2025. Although it has just started, many hotels and accommodation establishments have participated in the discount program such as: H'Mong Village Resort (Quan Ba); Phoenix Hotel and Yen Bien Luxury Hotel (Ha Giang city) ...

FCC Angkor by Avani and Herbal Kulen Gin Unite to Offer a Toast to Cambodian Flavours

FCC Angkor by Avani - Herbal Kulen Gin - Guest Experience
FCC Angkor by Avani
announces its collaboration with Unn "Pari" Sophary, the visionary behind Herbal Kulen Gin, to bring a unique, organic taste of Cambodia to its celebrated Scribe Bar. Through this partnership, guests can now savour cocktails that not only embody the essence of Cambodia, but also promote a mission rooted in sustainability and environmental rejuvenation.

Nestled in the foothills of the Kulen Mountains, Herbal Kulen Gin is the brainchild of Pari, whose dedication to restoring Cambodia’s natural landscapes through ethical and sustainable practices has resulted in a premium handcrafted gin. The gin’s unique flavour profile is shaped by botanicals cultivated in the medicinal forest garden Pari has nurtured. Distilled in small batches of just 180 bottles, the gin pays tribute to the vibrant Cambodian ecosystem and its rich traditions. FCC Angkor by Avani guests can visit the home of Herbal Kulen Gin and take a tour around the lush gardens and distillery, before a private gin tasting with owner Pari.

In addition, Avani invites guests to experience Cambodia’s vibrant spirit through a series of cocktail offerings at Scribe Bar. These special drinks, crafted with Herbal Kulen Gin, offer a taste of Cambodia, combining sustainable practices with bold, regional flavours. Signature cocktails include the Cambodian Negroni, a fusion of Herbal Kulen Gin, sweet vermouth, and Campari, and the Apsara Sour, an homage to regional botanicals, featuring Herbal Kulen Gin, butterfly pea tea, lemongrass syrup and lime juice.

Pari explains the importance of sustainability to her craft: “Our journey began at Beng Mealea, where the untouched beauty of nature inspired us to establish Herbal Kulen at the foothills of Phnom Kulen. By cultivating lemongrass and citronella in deforested areas, we aimed to not only produce essential oils and gin, but to also revive the land. Every bottle of Herbal Kulen Gin reflects our commitment to sustainable practices and environmental stewardship.”

FCC Angkor by Avani is an integral part of this vision, with its rich history, lush surroundings, and proximity to the river that flows from the Kulen Mountains. Pari continues, “Working with FCC Angkor by Avani is a nostalgic return to Siem Reap's roots. The hotel’s deep connection to the land, along with its unique place in history, aligns with our goal of sharing the best of Cambodia’s natural and cultural heritage with travellers.”

Experience the Future of MICE: Unique Offerings from TCEB at IT&CMA 2024!

Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) offered new unique experiences to hosted buyers at IT&CMA 2024. A showcase of rich choices of return on experiences for future MICE groups.

Prior to the trading days of IT&CMA 2024, TCEB took hosted buyers to two new workshops in the city center of Bangkok. The first workshop in Charoen Krung neighborhood was for the buyers to exercise their creativity in scent design by learning to mix and match different fragrances under the guidance of scent gurus. The concept was to design the scent that matches with their own identity as a means of branding. The second workshop was near Chulalongkorn University, offering pottery making as a means of mental therapy, mind calmness and creativity, all being guided by pottery artists. The locations of the two workshops in the city center ensure time-saving travel when locating events in Bangkok.

At Thailand Pavilion, TCEB offered two workshops. One was a workshop for producing herbal inhalers that will relieve the nose and reinvigorate the sensory perception. The other was for producing necklaces from the beads made from plastic waste, which is a form of upcycling. Both workshops can be an idea of activities in Thailand involving both traditional science of scent and contemporary lifestyle on sustainability.

The unique experiences were not limited to workshop activities but inclusive of unconventional venues for events that TCEB featured during Thailand Brand Presentation. Historic residence, garden pavilion, even train were offered as “beyond boardroom” venues for MICE planners.

Da Nang: Number of visitors increases with flights

To attract tourists to Da Nang, the city, tourism industry and
related units are making efforts to promote cooperation
with domestic and foreign airlines. Photo: Diep Nhu
The continuous operation of new routes has contributed to affirming Da Nang’s role as a “gateway” to the Central region. From flights bringing passengers from nearby markets, they have become an extended arm, aiming to attract tourists from more distant markets.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai An, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, said that up to now, there are 20 flights to Da Nang, including 5 domestic flights: Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Lat, Hai Phong, Can Tho and 15 regular international flights: Bangkok (Thailand), Singapore, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Taipei - Taichung - Kaohsiung (Taiwan - China), Macau (China), Hong Kong (China), Siem Reap (Cambodia), Incheon - Busan - Daegu - Cheongju (Korea), Narita (Japan), Manila (Philippines). Accordingly, in the first 9 months of 2024, the average frequency is 115 flights/day (64 domestic flights and 51 international flights) to Da Nang. On September 24, the city welcomed the first flight of Malaysia Airlines operating the Kuala Lumpur - Da Nang route.

With a flight network spanning Asia, Europe, and Oceania to nearly 1,000 destinations in more than 170 countries and territories, the city's tourism industry expects Malaysia Airlines to be a bridge to help Da Nang expand its tourism market to attractive destinations around the world.

On the flight from Kuala Lumpur to Da Nang operated by Malaysia Airlines, Mr. Amir Azaman (from Malaysia) shared that Da Nang has many landscapes, attractions and is close to world cultural heritages... so tourists are very interested in the destination. Having a direct flight from Kuala Lumpur to Da Nang has created favorable conditions for tourists between the two countries to travel for tourism, vacation as well as other trade activities. This also helps increase the travel options of tourists as well as the source of visitors for the two countries.

It is known that this October, Vietjet Air is expected to launch a flight route from Amedabad (India) to Da Nang; in addition, Indonesian airline Citilink Airlines has planned to operate the first direct charter flights from Jakarta (Indonesia) to Da Nang city by the end of 2024. The airline will coordinate with travel companies in Da Nang and Central Vietnam to open a flight route with a frequency of 2 flights/week, thereby opening up opportunities to connect to key customer markets.

In addition to policies to attract domestic tourists, to increase potential tourists from the international market, in the coming time, the city's tourism industry will continue to promote the opening of direct international flights to Da Nang from markets such as China, Japan (Nagoya, Osaka), Australia. The city also focuses on expanding and exploiting the markets of tourists from the US, the Middle East, Uzbekistan, Southeast Asia, etc.

Regarding the Chinese market, the Department of Tourism is coordinating with relevant parties to support the restoration of flights from mainland China to Da Nang. The restoration of the network of regular and charter flights from major cities in China to Da Nang will be carried out as soon as possible.

The tourism industry will implement a plan to promote and connect flight routes to attract visitors in 2025; organize conferences to promote international flights; coordinate with aviation management agencies (Da Nang International Airport, Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company), airlines, and tourism businesses to organize conferences to promote international flights to discuss in-depth solutions to restore, maintain, and promote international flights to Da Nang.

The Department of Tourism continues to advise the city on policies to attract and increase international flights to Da Nang; coordinate with airlines and tourism businesses to promote the reopening of charter flights from China (Chengdu, Hangzhou, Guangzhou), Indonesia (Jakarta, Bali), Japan (Nagoya, Osaka), Australia (Sydney, Melbourne), Qatar (Doha) ... to Da Nang.

To effectively introduce and exploit domestic and international visitors, the city has also directed the tourism industry to strengthen solutions, including promoting cooperation in tourism development, especially innovating communication work, emphasizing innovation of destinations and new, unique products and services, suitable to the trends and tastes of each tourist market.

It is expected that in 2024, the total number of visitors staying in Da Nang will reach 10.3 million, an increase of nearly 40% compared to 2023 (international visitors are estimated to reach 4.2 million, an increase of 2.1 times). By 2025, the target is to strive for the total number of visitors staying in the city to reach more than 10.5 million, an increase of 6% compared to 2024, of which international visitors are estimated to reach 4.3 million, an increase of 11%, and domestic visitors are estimated to reach more than 6.2 million.

Ms. Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Director of Da Nang Department of Tourism, informed that currently, international destinations are facing strong competition such as Thailand, China, due to cheap prices, open visa policies, government support in cash for airlines to open routes, giving cash vouchers to tourists... Thereby, the trend of shifting some traditional tourist markets to new destinations is a reality that has been and is happening. Shifting the international tourist market is one of the problems for the tourism industry and businesses in the industry to evaluate more comprehensively to have long-term solutions.
