Best of Queensland’s tourism experiences named for 2024

  • More than 2,000 Queensland tourism products have been named Best of Queensland Experiences (BOQE).
  • The number of BOQE has increased by 800 in the past five years, reflecting the tourism industry’s commitment to meeting and exceeding consumer expectations.

More than 2,000 Queensland tourism products are celebrating their status as Best of Queensland Experiences, cementing the state’s commitment to being Australia’s number one holiday destination.

Tourism Minister Michael Healy today released the 2024 results of Tourism and Events Queensland’s BOQE program, congratulating 2,108 Queensland tourism products, an increase of 800 over the past five years.

In an Australian and industry-first, the program was launched in 2018 to guide Queensland’s tourism industry to deliver exceptional experiences to customers. It identifies and recognises experiences that best bring the Queensland story to life and consistently deliver an exceptional customer experience

This year’s results include experiences from all 13 tourism regions in the state across accommodation, attractions, food and drink, hire, tour, transport and general services.

Amongst the best of the best, an incredible 394 operators received full marks of 100/100 points and 64 operators received a perfect Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) score of 100.

In the past five years, tourism businesses offering an online booking platform have grown from 1,614 to 3,041, showing the importance of the BOQE program in setting criteria for businesses to strive towards. Having a platform that customers can book their experience direct and have instant confirmation of the booking is a vital part of the customer experience that the program has successfully guided businesses towards.

The program was developed in partnership with the state's Regional Tourism Organisations, the Queensland Tourism Industry Council and the Department of Tourism and Sport. It is based on an independent set of criteria that includes:
  • Consistent delivery of an exceptional experience based on positive customer reviews;
  • Website with secure online booking;
  • Active and engaging social media presence;
  • Regional Tourism Organisation membership;
  • Accreditation.

Businesses must achieve a minimum GRI score of 80, as well as achieve 80 points of the possible 100 points overall, in order to be recognised as a Best of Queensland Experience.

Being named as a BOQE means the business can use the official Stamp of Recognition in marketing, allowing potential travellers to easily identify them.
