On the London stage

Dear England 

Dear England transfers to the Prince Edward Theatre following a sold-out run at the National Theatre. With the worst track record for penalties, manager Gareth Southgate knows he needs to open his mind and face up to the years of hurt to take team and country back. The play by James Graham is a fictionalised account of the struggles and successes of England’s football teams, based on extensive research and interviews. 

Message In A Bottle 

Message In A Bottle, the new dance-theatre production by Kate Prince, to the music of Sting runs at the Peacock Theatre before embarking on tour that takes in Sydney, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. In the peaceful village of Bebko is alive with joyous celebrations until, under attack, everything changes, and Leto, Mati and Tana must journey to survive. The production first opened at Sadler’s Wells The Peacock theatre in January 2020 to excellent reviews.

Frank and Percy 

Ben Weatherill’s new comedy, starring Ian McKellen (Percy) and Roger Allam (Frank) will have a limited London season at The Other Palace from 8 September to 3 December 2023. The play has already enjoyed successful runs at the Theatre Royal Windsor and Theatre Royal Bath. It is the unexpected relationship that blossoms between two men who are devoted to their canine companions but believe human connection is far more temperamental.

When offered the lead part in a Norwegian film adaptation of Hedda Gabler, an American actress seizes the opportunity to escape Hollywood and gain some artistic credibility.

Hamnet 

The Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of Maggie O’Farrell’s Hamnet transfers to the Garrick Theatre from 30 September following a sell-out run in Stratford-upon-Avon. It is Warwickshire in 1582 and Agnes Hathaway, a natural healer, meets the Latin tutor, William Shakespeare.
