The new Eco-Centre includes a food composter that digests food and garden waste. This, in turn, generates the compost the resort uses to fertilise its Organic Garden.
The herbs, vegetables and lettuce grown here are used in Chef Harinath Govindaraj’s plant-based menu.
There is also a glass-crushing machine, which creates construction materials from glass waste, while a compacting machine compresses tin and aluminium that is later recycled.
Guests can participate in these efforts at handicraft workshops.
In addition, the island’s marine biology team monitor the surrounding coral reef ecosystems, measuring light intensity and sea surface temperature, identifying manta ray and turtle populations and removing invasive Crown of Thorns starfish.
Gili Lankfanfushi, Maldives comprises 45 overwater villas, including seven Crusoe Residences and The Private Reserve, one of the most exclusive and largest overwater villas in the world.
