If you're looking for a taste of traditional Japan in Nagano Prefecture it is well worth the visit! 

Stroll over the vermillion bridges and keep an eye out for the swans and carp swimming in the moat.

Then, ascend the stairs and explore the interior of this medieval marvel. 

Cast your mind back to ancient times as you discover the weaponry and armour on display and peek through the openings designed for archers in battle. 

Finally, take in the view of the city and the Northern Alps from the top floor observation platform.

On your way out you might even get to snap a photo with a samurai or ninja as they roam the castle grounds!
