GROUNDWATER CMF & KIX COUNTRY RADIO NETWORK JOIN FORCES

INTRODUCING GROUNDWATER’S KIX-START

NEW INITIATIVE TO DISCOVER COUNTRY TALENT KICKS OFF TODAY

For budding country stars waiting for their big break, an exciting new initiative has launched today to help KIX-start their career! Introducing Groundwater’s KIX-Start, offering an amazing opportunity for country artists.

Australia’s fastest-growing country music festival, Groundwater, and KIX Country Radio Network have joined forces to search for a rising musician to open The Back Road stage on Surf Parade at Groundwater CMF on the Gold Coast this November. The stage will also play host to the likes of Adam Harvey, Catherine Britt, Gina Jeffreys plus many more stellar country performers. The winning act will put their musical talent on display with a 45-minute set in front of thousands of Groundwater fans this November – a priceless opportunity.

Groundwater has a long history as a launching pad for country artists, and they’re now taking it to the next level with this exciting opportunity to ignite a performer's career. For this inaugural competition, participants can wow the judges by submitting an original country-inspired song that exhibits an exceptional music ability, and the passion, creativity, and authenticity that characterises the country genre.

Included in the judging panel is the perennial Queen of Country Gina Jeffreys. The award-winning singer-songwriter burst on to the Australian Country Music scene twenty years ago, winning the Tamworth Toyota Star Maker competition in 1991, taking over the reins from none other than Keith Urban.

Gina is certainly familiar with the incredible opportunity these competitions afford artists hoping to launch their career. “I am so excited to be a part of the very first Groundwater’s KIX-Start to help find an exciting new Aussie country artist. I'm passionate about helping to mentor and develop new artists and I know there are so many incredible artists out there ready to be discovered and this is the opportunity of a lifetime!” Gina said.

“I won Star Maker back in 1991, and it truly “kick-started” my career and I’m forever grateful, so I really understand the value of a launching pad like this for a new artist."

The search starts today, and the discovered talent will be given the full Groundwater CMF artist experience, with flights and accommodation for two to attend the festival this November from the 12th to the 14th included. They will also receive airtime on the KIX Country Radio Network to showcase their talent!
