Ryuhyo walking tours on the drift ice around Shiretoko Peninsula in Japan

In Shiretoko National Park, you can suit up with an insulated wetsuit and explore the famous ryuhyo (drift ice) of the Sea of Okhotsk!

Situated between Japan and Russia, the sea around Shiretoko Peninsula gets covered in drifting sea ice by the end of January.

In this period of time, you can find tour companies around the area offering Ryuhyo walking tours where you can walk on the drift ice.

If you are adventurous enough, you can also float on the icy waters in buoyant swimsuits!
