RACT has welcomed the announcement of a regular flight service between Hobart and Strahan, which will run three times a week for a two-week trial from mid-May.
“The introduction of this travel option has the potential to exponentially grow visitation to Strahan and the west coast more broadly, and will have far-reaching positive effects for the whole community,” RACT Destinations Chief Operating Officer Andrew Paynter said.
“This is a vote of confidence in the region, which is gaining momentum with the Western Wilds project and recent new product development.
“It is exciting to be able to open the west coast to some of the short-stay markets that visit Tasmania, such as high-yielding international visitors.
“We're looking forward to seeing other businesses embrace it to build packages and product that showcase all the west coast has to offer.”
Mr Paynter congratulated Par Avion on being named the successful tenderer for this service.
“We have a good relationship with Par Avion through our existing fly and cruise package with Gordon River Cruises,” he said. “We will be providing support to the Par Avion team on the ground in Strahan and look forward to continuing our working relationship.”
