Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach's premier dining destination, room81, has been awarded Two Chef Hats by Australian Good Food Guide (AGFG) for the second year in a row.
This highly commendable status, held by only two restaurants in the Gold Coast, is a rich reward for the driving force behind room81, Chef de cuisine Same Moore. After receiving the prestigious accolade in 2016, Chef Sam and team have spent the last 12 months working tirelessly to refine and uphold their unique degustation concept, pushing the boundaries to deliver a truly hats off dining experience.
Chef Sam says “I feel extremely fortunate to have twice received such recognition for the work we have done at room81. This accolade confirms that we are continuing to deliver not only quality food but also a memorable experience which is the overall goal for any restaurant.”
With the number of local restaurants on the rise, room81 continues to maintain its position as one of the leading fine dining restaurants in the Gold Coast region. This is attributed to Chef Sam's innovate concepts such as Project Night, which sees the kitchen involve the guests in new menu concepts and plate presentations.
“Our guests will be a little like guinea pigs; I want people to come in and try new things and really see food expressed on the plate” says Sam.
With a strong emphasis on local ingredients, room81 offers diners an Australian degustation journey over two, five, seven or nine courses, many of which end with Sam's signature Valrhona chocolate sphere that is smashed open to reveal a decadent salted caramel, hazelnut and raspberry filling.
Chef de Cuisine Sam Moore's career has spanned many cities, honing his craft in Sydney and Melbourne's busy restaurant scene and some of Europe's best kitchens. Prior to room81, Sam worked at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins' signature restaurant 'No. 35' and before that Sydney favourites Pier and No41 Chifley Place.
