Staging Connections dazzles with innovative projection mapping for stunning Dom Pérignon dinner

Staging Connections wowed 100 VIP guests with an imaginative and artistic light projection show, at a once-in-a-lifetime dining experience for the Dom Pérignon Lumiere Dinner, hosted by Merivale at the ivy in Sydney.

Using twelve 16k projectors, table cloths and plate settings were brought to life with creative custom animations projected down onto them, aligning perfectly between cutlery and plate settings. The dazzling animations introduced guests to each of the courses that were matched with Dom Pérignon champagne, visually complemented by subtle haze and lighting effects.

Bright graphics and emotive swirls of colour within the custom animations conveyed the elegance of the Dom Pérignon brand in a captivating display of innovative projection mapping techniques. Creating a mysterious environment, production company Alfred, themed the ivy Ballroom in black and white. Dancers in neon glow-in-the-dark outfits directed guests to two 15.6m custom tables, able to fit 50 people on each, and name cards were cleverly projected down onto each guest’s place setting.

David O’Connor, Technical Event Director – ivy, at Staging Connections, outlined how his team created the spectacular projections.

“Working on this exclusive and prestigious event for Dom Pérignon meant pushing the boundaries to create innovative animations with lighting and projection mapping technologies. The custom built tables and unique projections brought the space to life, creating something truly unique and memorable.

“The style of this event truly emphasised the elegance of the Dom Pérignon brand and we were proud to deliver such stellar results,” said Mr O’Connor.

Staging Connections delivered a seamless show; one that supported the theme and style of the champagnes on offer which were introduced by the guest of honour, chief wine maker from France, Richard Geoffroy, Chef De Cave of Dom Pérignon.

Kathy Savill, Director of Sales & Events, at Merivale, described the intricate detail required to execute the event.

“Precision was the key, and the team worked hard to ensure cutlery, glassware and plates were all aligned to the bespoke animations, to maximise the visual effect. Both our in-house team and Staging Connections staff rehearsed the timings to ensure a seamless experience for guests. The high calibre of this client meant it was vital to get the presentation perfect; our client and our team are both thrilled with the results,” said Ms Savill.
