A hundred teams are competing in the gruelling 10-day race which includes hiking, mountain biking and kayaking. Twenty different countries will be represented, with athletes travelling from locations such as the USA, China, Sweden Uruguay, Argentina, the Czech Republic and Estonia to race for the coveted title of World Champion.
The incredible Shoalhaven wilderness will be on display to a global audience, as part of a National Geographic documentary series. In addition, more than 30 journalists from around the world are in attendance, providing ongoing coverage of the event. The event will provide an incredible economic boost to the South Coast region, and is proudly supported by Destination NSW.
The AR World Championship 2016, hosted by the XPD Expedition Race, scheduled from the 8 - 18 November 2016, will take teams representing over 30 countries on a 600km journey through the Shoalhaven region of New South Wales (NSW), Australia. The winning team is estimated to complete the non stop, unsupported course of trekking, mountain biking, kayaking and navigation in 4.5 days. The event will be a straight out linear race, no mandatory stops, no dark zones, no optional controls - pure adventure racing at it’s best!
