Maharashtra Tourism Participates in Google’s “Great Online Shopping Festival”

Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation in a drive to remain aggressive in attracting tourists to Maharashtra, has tied up with “Great Online Shopping Festival” (GOSF) – an initiative of Google. This also makes MTDC the first state tourism board to put it on the global tourists’ map through the powerful search engine Google.

E-Commerce in India is one of the fast growing sectors of India’s Digital economy and GOSF can be a powerful tool to promote the destinations of Maharashtra. Leveraging on online retail market growth, MTDC is providing 30% discount on booking all MTDC resorts during the festival period from December 10-12, 2014 through GOSF.

The online retail market in India is estimated (by IAMAI) to grow from $2.3 billion today (which is 0.4 per cent of the country’s overall retail market) to $32 billion in 2020 (three per cent of the retail market). During the same period, the share of the organised retail segment is expected to grow from 8.4 per cent to 14 per cent.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Sanjay Dhekane Sr. Manager Publicity & PR, MTDC said, “GOSF is a great platform for reaching out to global audience. Our promotions through GOSF will facilitate the tourists to explore various destinations of Maharashtra. We are proud of being trend setter in the tourism industry with innovative promotional campaigns.”
GOSF has a wide range of products with more than 400 features on the website offering great discounts and offers. GOSF has received huge response from Indian consumers as well, with the company claiming to have received 2 million viewers last year. Through GOSF its partners on e-commerce platforms even claim of registering the threefold growth in sales since partnering with the search engine giant’s initiative.
