QT Sydney partners with Museum of Contemporary Art Australia

Museum of Contemporary Art Australia
With its strong focus on art and design, QT Sydney has been appointed as the official Hotel Partner of the iconic Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA).

The agreement will see QT and the MCA present exclusive offers and benefits to hotel guests and gallery members as well as collaborate on a series of special events to be announced throughout 2014.

As the only member of the exclusive Design Hotels collection to be located in Sydney, QT features a vibrant, art-laden interior, showcasing contemporary artists and catering to a client base of creatives and art aficionados.

QT guests will have access to one-off events including private tours and viewings of upcoming MCA exhibitions and will receive the inside run on MCA news via the hotel’s QT Life blog, with its strong art and culture focus. The striking heritage display cabinets in QT Sydney’s entrance — renowned for showcasing a revolving series of art installations — will bring a taste of the MCA to the heart of the CBD with a future exhibit to be announced.

QT Sydney’s Art Curator and MCA Ambassador Amanda Love has acquired and commissioned the vast collection of modern art that is the hallmark of the hotel’s artistic public spaces. With a strong focus on local and regional talent, Love’s efforts include the signature digital installation by New Zealand artist Daniel Crooks overlooking reception, a multi-channel installation by indigenous artist Daniel Boyd in the Gilt Lounge and sculptures by Sydney-based talent Morgan Shimeld.

“Both QT Sydney and the MCA are at the forefront of their industries in art and design,” said Ms Love.

“This collaboration is the perfect union, with many of the artists on display in QT Sydney also being exhibited at the MCA – including Daniel Boyd and Grant Stevens,” she said.
