Ever thought about a gourmet native dining experience in a cave? How about a lighthouse?
A series of unique locations in the Margaret River Region in Western Australia are set to come alive with the extraordinary tastes of fresh native produce with the ‘Fervor Cave Series’ in February 2014.
Lake, Jewel and Mammoth Caves, and the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse – all of which are operated by the Augusta Margaret River Tourism Association - will be the host venues for a series of culinary experiences hosted by pop-up restaurant ‘Fervor’ – a unique new dining concept specialising in native edibles and foraging.
The ‘Cave Series’ allows guests to be taken on an 8 – 10 course culinary journey incorporating local native ingredients in exclusive and spectacular locations in the Margaret River Region.
Fervor, created and run by siblings Paul and Bree Iskov, is a unique and exciting dining concept in the form of a travelling pop-up restaurant focussing on freshly foraged native ingredients.
Ms Iskov said that the concept of Fervor was fuelled by a passion for native edibles and a deep love and respect for the diverse natural bushland throughout Western Australia, and particularly the Margaret River Region she and her brother Paul call home.
“Fervor incorporates native ingredients which were most likely used by indigenous people from the area for thousands of years,” said Ms Iskov.
“Paul and I have a great love and respect for the land which we endeavour to portray through food, location, dedication and passion,” she said.
Augusta Margaret River Tourism Association (AMRTA) CEO Pip Close said that the AMRTA was delighted to be teaming up with Fervor.
“Foraging and dining on local, native ingredients is becoming hugely popular, so we are delighted to be able to offer such unique and beautiful settings for guests to experience Fervor’s Cave Series,” said Ms Close.
“To dine at Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse – the most south-westerly tip of Australia where the two oceans meet, or in Jewel Cave – the largest show cave in Western Australia – is an unparalleled experience.
“Moreover, the experience of a degustation style journey with courses comprising of unique, locally sourced, native ingredients – combined with such remarkable backdrops – is truly not to be missed, for both visitors and locals,” said Ms Close.
