Sports fans are urged to get in early for tickets to the Juventus versus A-League All Stars match which are on sale today (21 February) to the general public.
The match will be held exclusively in Sydney at ANZ Stadium on Sunday 10 August 2014.
Italian football legend, current Sydney FC player and former Juventus star, Alessandro Del Piero, will play for the All Stars against his former club.
On hand for the announcement at the Sydney Opera House on Tuesday was Juventus legend Edgar Davids who made 235 appearances for the club from 1997 – 2003.
Minister for Tourism and Major Events, George Souris, said he was delighted Italy’s Serie A champions Juventus are bringing their football skills to Sydney, Australia’s premier sports and major events city.
“Following the success of the Manchester United tour exclusive to Sydney last July, the NSW Government, through our tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW, has worked hard to secure this match with Juventus.
“Juventus has a world-wide fan base of 250 million, including 1.4 million Juventus faithful in Australia and by hosting this champion team, Sydney and NSW will again be on show to the world.”
Minister for Sport and Recreation, Gabrielle Upton, said: “Juventus is the most successful Italian football club in history, having won 54 official titles on the national and international stage. Juventus also boasts a record 29 league titles, nine Italian Cups, a record five national super cups, and 11 titles in confederation and inter-confederation competitions.
“The A-League All Stars will once again represent the best of the A-League, with players and coaching staff selected by football fans,” she said.
