Minister for Tourism, Major Event and the Arts, George Souris, recently
launched a new online publication, Sydney Film Festival: 1954 to Now, to
celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Sydney Film Festival.
“This new digital archive is not only a comprehensive anthology of the
Sydney Film Festival and the Australian film industry, but is also a
celebration of Sydney and NSW as the nation’s hub of film and creative
industries,” said Minister Souris said.
Sydney Film Festival: 1954 to Now is a world-first, designed as a
digital-only publication with thousands of pages of content and images,
creating a film resource so large it could not be physically printed.
Sydney Film Festival: 1954 to Now includes stories, videos, images and
audio, in a beautifully laid out and accessible format, which can be
enjoyed across laptops, desktops and tablets.
Contributors to Sydney Film Festival: 1954 to Now include David Marr, Dr
Gregory Dolgopolov, Garry Maddox, Eddie Cockrell and Sandy George, as
well as former Sydney Film Festival directors David Stratton, Paul
Byrnes, Gayle Lake, Lynden Barber, Clare Stewart and the festival’s
first director, David Donaldson.
Destination NSW is the NSW Government’s strategic partner with the
Sydney Film Festival. Sydney Film Festival: 1954 to Now is free and can
be viewed via the Sydney Film Festival website.
