On the shores of Sydney Harbour at Mrs Macquarie’s Chair, trucks and barges are delivering bits of stage and scaffolding by road and water. We’re building an outdoor pop-up opera house.
In just 25 days, the trucks will be gone, and in their place bars and restaurants, an enormous floating stage, and audience members drinking in the view along with their sparkling wine.
Out in the enormous basketball hall at Olympic Park, the sound is very different. There you might hear snatches of sensational young soprano Stacey Alleume testing her top notes in ‘Sempre Libera’, or the Chorus starting the morning with the rousing Brindisi.
The countdown is on to La Traviata on Sydney Harbour. Don't miss "the ultimate Sydney experience" (Yahoo! Travel) when it finally comes together, 26 March – 25 April. Book now
