Cairns and Great Barrier Reef tourism push

The Premier has announced Cairns Holiday Dollars, a major new tourism campaign offering 15,000 travel vouchers for Queenslanders to receive 50 per cent off (up to $200.00 inc. GST) on eligible tourism experiences in Cairns & Great Barrier Reef. At midday today when registrations closed, more than 106,000 people had registered. Successful applicants will be notified with their unique voucher codes this coming Monday, 15 March and will be able to book Cairns Holiday Dollars deals on Queensland.com.

In other Great Barrier Reef news, thousands more students from across Queensland will have the opportunity to take an excursion to the World Heritage-listed wonder following the launch of the Great Barrier Reef Education Experience Program on Tuesday. The three-year program, which begins from term three this year, will provide up to $150 for eligible primary and secondary school students to experience the reef and learn about its importance, benefiting travel, accommodation and reef experience businesses along the length and breadth of the 2,300km marine park in the process.
