The Amara Bangkok |
The Amara Bangkok is a wonderful new 250 room hotel that is ideal for business or leisure travellers. This modern luxurious hotel is located in the historic district of Bangrak, famous for its street food, shopping and night life.
The reception lobby on Level 1 provided a warm welcome and check in. The Concierge desk is also located here.
The hotel offers a choice of Deluxe, Cabana, Club and executive Rooms and Suites. My spacious Club Room on the Level 24 provided a fantastic view of Bangkok from the floor to ceiling window. It was very modern, clean and comfortable. I liked the very tastefully decorated room with original art on the walls and throughout the rest of the hotel. I appreciated the orchid flowers, fresh fruit bowel, dried fruits and welcome note from the hotel Manager in room.
Welcone to Amara Bangkok |
A flat screen digital smart TV with hotel channel for services and amenities and information passed the evenings away watching the local and international stations. I was very comfortable in my room with the individually controlled air-conditioning as I used the complimentary wifi internet.
Coffee and tea making facilities were handy to use in conjunction with the mini-bar. A phone with voice mail, an electronic safe and iron & ironing board to use were in the room.
The king sized bed was heavenly comfortable with high quality crisp sheets, luxurious pillows and plush doona. The wonderful bed made for a restful nights sleep.
View from my bath at Amara Bangkok |
The spacious bathroom had seperate bathtub (with outstanding views!), an amazing rain shower, vanity and toilet, hairdryer, Amara bathroom amenities, wonderful towels, robe, and slippers.
My Club Room gave me the personalized service of a special check in and check out and a welcome drink and fruit platter.
The Club Lounge on Level 20 and its privileges included a delicious daily breakfast, all-day refreshments of coffee, tea & soft drinks and evening cocktails and canapés. There was unlimited high speed internet access and a 48" TV to view. A special feature wads the digital access to newspapers and magazines from all over the world provided by Press Reader, an interactive news service viewed on mobile, tablet or computer devices. There was a free pressing or laundry service for two pieces and check out time was extended to 3pm.
Skypool on Level 26 |
A wonderful feature of the Amara Bangkok was the infinity Skypool on Level 26 rooftop. This gave me an amazing birds-eye view of Bangkok during the day and the lit up city during the night. Sun lounges and chairs were positioned by the poolside , and the AkaAza Bar provided creative drinks and tasty snacks to enjoy. There was free access to the 24 hour Skygym on level 22. This was equipped with treadmills and weight to workout while enjoying the view. I missed out on noticing the Jacuzzi on level 9, otherwise I would have enjoyed that too.
The main restaurant at the Amara Bangkok is the 145 seat Element Restaurant on Level B1. This provides indoor and alfresco dining areas where the chefs can be seen creating their delicious cuisine at their cooking stations. They serve delicious Breakfasts each morning offering a wide selection of local and western items and freshly prepared coffee and tea. For Lunches and Dinners they showcase signature Singaporean Cuisine such as Hainanese Chicken Rice, Bak Kut Teh, Laksa, Satay as well as provincial Chinese and Thai cuisine. The International Lunch Buffet is very popular.
My meal at Element Restaurant |
I was fortunate to stay at the Amara Bangkok on a Friday night so I could experience the fantastic Hipster Night, which is held every Friday Night from 6.30pm till late in the transformed Element Restaurant. Staff wearing jeans and t-shirts with hipster sayings printed on them serve affordable and delicious food dishes. I enjoyed a beef and satay chicken dish. There is a Beer Buffet, 2 rounds of a Happy Hour (from 6.30 - 8.30pm and 10.30 - 11pm) and a buy one bottle of wine and get one free offer. A live band provides wonderful live music to listen to while dinning and drinking. The Hipster Night is a good way for hotel guests and locals to end their working week.
In the lobby the Barista Cafe serves up delicious coffees, and The Bar serves a creative selection of cocktails and other drinks. The Mini Bar Boutique is also located in the Lobby. This offers a fine selection of drinks and snacks, at corner store prices, that can be purchased to place in the mini bars in the guest rooms. This is a novel idea to have the preferences the guests want in their rooms and not unnecessary items.
The Barista Amara Bangkok |
A pillarless ball room and two meeting rooms on Level 8 provide the perfect venue for meetings, seminars, exhibitions, social functions or weddings. These can be set up in a variety of arrangements to suit the needs of the users. A variety of Half Day and Full Day Meeting Packages are avaiable. A Business Centre on Level offers a handy range of services.
During my time at the Amara Bangkok I walked to the nearby Patpomg Night Market, and walked to Chinatown. This took a bit longer to walk to, but made for a most interesting day out. Another day I took the Skytrain to the huge Chatuchak Weekend Market.
Amara Bangkok is just a 10 minute walk to the Chong Nonsi or Saladaeng BTS Skytrain Stations, or a 15 minute walk to the Sam Yan MRT station, The hotel has a free air-conditioned Tuk Tuk to pick up or take people to the Saladaeng BTS station. Car parking is available, and they offer airport limousine transfers.
