Clean sweep for MCEC at Victorian MEA Awards

Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) was last night honoured with five awards at the 2015 Victorian Meetings and Events Australia (MEA) Industry Awards, held at Melbourne Olympic Parks.

In a night that called for guests to dress in “Hollywood Glamour”, MCEC created the perfect script and was the star of the show, with the venue winning all categories it entered including: Meeting Venue 500 Delegates or More, Banqueting and Catering, Cause-Related Event and In-House AV Services.

A successful night was made even sweeter with MCEC Operations Manager, Libby Buick taking home the prestigious Operations Person of the Year award.

MCEC Chief Executive, Peter King said the outstanding result was testament to MCEC’s commitment to excellence and the venue’s ongoing contribution to the meetings and events industry in Australia.

“The MEA Awards are the premier accolade in the Australian meetings and events field, and each year we look forward to the opportunity to benchmark our business against the best in our industry,” Mr King said.

“We have worked hard to attract some great talent to our organisation and we’re honoured to once again be recognised with these outstanding results.”

Of particular mention was MCEC’s Technology Services team, who collected the In-House AV award for the sixth consecutive year, demonstrating the organisation’s commitment to leading the market with an innovative technology offering.

“These awards prove that we have the right venue, outstanding food, cutting-edge technology and the right people to deliver memorable events for our customers, and I’m so proud of all who contribute to the success of MCEC,” Mr King added.

MCEC is now a finalist for the above categories in the 2015 MEA National Awards, which will be announced at the MEA National Conference held at MCEC in April 2016.
