Unique Cultural Events in Central NSW This Spring

Spring breathes new life in the country and Central NSW celebrates its most splendid season with a range of new cultural events and festivals.

Meet producers at 'The Breakfast Table' pop-up market in Grenfell, admire renowned art at 'Sculpture in the Garden' at Mudgee and celebrate local creativity at the 'Kalari Lachlan River Arts Festival' in Forbes.

This is the best time to visit Central NSW as vast landscapes explode with colour, trees are blossoming and new life is born.

• 'The Breakfast Table' pop-up market in Grenfell (Sunday 29 November) – a new event the Breakfast Table is a pop-up café and market held at a secret location every quarter. A breakfast café uses local produce, enjoy local roasted organic coffee and freshly squeezed juice. Then buy from around 25 stalls selling local eggs, stone fruit, honey, sourdough, muesli, seedlings, jams and smoked trout. There can be live music, children's activities, cooking demonstrations and yoga.
• Sculptures in the Garden' at Mudgee's Rosby Wines (10-11 October).An exciting event that combines Australian sculpture and traditional art mediums in beautiful rural surroundings within a private garden and vineyard in Mudgee. It features over 200 sculptures by local and renowned artists, guest speakers, walks and children's activities. All proceeds from the weekend exhibition go to the Mudgee Support Group of Guide Dogs NSW/ACT and a local arts initiative to create a sculpture walk in Mudgee's Lawson Park.
• 'Kalari Lachlan River Arts Festival' in Forbes (29-31 October). A signature festival of the arts which celebrates the creativity and resilience of people living on the Kalari-Lachlan River. The huge program on Saturday features Arts Alley, live music, bush poetry, dragon boating and a lantern parade.
• 'The Orange Wine Festival Celebrates 10 Years' (16 October-1 November). A vibrant celebration of Orange's fine wine culture, must do's in the three-week program include Wine in the Vines, a progressive lunch, the Orange Wine Festival Night Market and Wine Central, where you can sample the whole region in one place.
• 'Illuminate Bathurst' (10-18 October) – the Bathurst Bicentenary celebrations rev up in October when a series of digital projections transform the city centre at night, lighting up buildings and creating a new canvasses for storytelling. The town will have a huge party atmosphere with a Street Festival on Sat 10 October, street stalls and entertainment. While you're there take the pilgrimage to Mount Panorama for Australia's greatest race, the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 (8-11 October).

Central NSW begins just two hours' drive from Sydney with the townships of Bathurst, Orange, Mudgee, Cowra, Canowindra, Grenfell, Parkes and Forbes. In between are smaller villages with big hearts like Carcoar, Millthorpe, Rylstone and Hill End.
