The South Pacific Specialist Programme, the online training programme for travel agents, will be the focus of a two-day 'Treasures of the South Pacific' Australian workshop that will promote the programme to retail travel agencies and tour wholesalers.
The South Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) will participate in a regional tourism seminar in collaboration with partners from the Pacific Islands Trade & Invest (Sydney) and Australian-based national tourism offices of Tahiti, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Niue, Solomon Islands, Samoa and Cook Islands.
The roadshow is hoping to attract more than 65 travel agents from Sydney and Newcastle with the aim to educate and motivate participating audiences to acquire wider understanding of the various South Pacific market destinations, product requirements, travel distribution and services within their inventory and to encourage them to include these within their sales pitch to clients.
Presentations will be conducted by participating NTOs to promote their individual destinations.
SPTO Chief Executive Ilisoni Vuidreketi stated: “We are taking a consolidated approach on this roadshow to jointly market the South Pacific as a region and to increase the strength of our brand in Australia. Australia continues to be the biggest source market for tourists into our region and we believe that this trend will continue.”
“Our South Pacific Specialist Programme, we believe is the key tool for travel agents and travel wholesalers to fully understand the various destinations in the region and better equip them to entice travelers to the South Pacific. In these workshops we will introduce each of our Pacific Island destinations to agents and direct them to online tools that will assist in this learning process via the SPTO website”, Mr. Vuidreketi added.
The two-day roadshow will be held from the 25-26 August 2015 at the Crowne Plaza in Newcastle and the Rocks in Sydney.
