Escarpment Group: Indulgent Journey on the Edge

Greater Blue Mountains
Perched on the edge of the magnificent Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area is the Escarpment Group collection of distinctive properties encapsulating heritage, indulgence and character at its very best.

Each of the four are remarkable to the Blue Mountains – Lilianfels Resort and Spa, Echoes Boutique Hotel & Restaurant, The Hydro Majestic Hotel and Parklands Country Gardens & Lodges, steeped in history and surrounded by dramatic landscapes and breathtaking views.

Guests at each property can indulge in mouth-watering wine and food prepared by world-class chefs from the freshest regional and Australian produce.

They can rejuvenate on the edge of one of the most extraordinary locations with spectacular views.

Independently owned and operated, Escarpment Group investments in the Blue Mountains region began in 2004 with Echoes Boutique Hotel and Restaurant followed by the acquisition of the Hydro Majestic Hotel in 2008.

Lilianfels Resort & Spa, renowned 5-star luxury property for the Greater Blue Mountains region, was added in 2009 and Parklands Country Gardens completed the collection in 2013.

The Escarpment Group takes seriously its responsibility to the historic landmarks within its collection and embarked on an extensive restoration of the former home of the sixth Chief Justice of NSW into what is now the hatted Darley’s Restaurant within the Lilianfels property.

With meticulous attention to detail, Escarpment Group has also peeled back the layers of one of the world’s genuinely iconic hotels, the Hydro Majestic, to reveal afresh the vision of original owner Mark Foy in the exquisite restoration unveiled in October 2014.

All four properties boast glorious gardens, each with their own personality and reminder of their location within the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area.

Lilianfels Resort is surrounded by 2 acres of manicured gardens right next to Echo Point, while the neighbouring Echoes Boutique Hotel commands a majestic view of the Jamison Valley.

The historic Parklands property treats guests with sweeping lawns, rows of towering trees, meandering pathways, drifts of daffodils, orchards, a Chinese herb garden, private lake and country-style cottage gardens. Guests can travel the short distance to Govetts Leap Lookout to view vast vistas over a breathtaking landscape.

The Parklands kitchen garden will also sustain the kitchens of all four properties in the future.

Once known as Mark Foy’s ``Palace in the wilderness’’ and the scene of endless opulent parties, the Escarpment Group has breathed life once more into the sumptuous halls and venues of the Hydro Majestic Hotel.

Visitors and locals seeking elegant entertainment can find it at regular LIVE@THEHYDRO performances, at high tea and evening degustation in the Wintergarden, over casual lunch in the Boiler House CafĂ©, sunset cocktails in Cat’s Alley, Eastern high tea in the Salon Du The and a regional produce and retail experience in the providores Hydro Majestic Pavilion.

To further support its growing profile in the region and meet the operational demands of the properties, Escarpment Group has also embarked on a joint venture with TAFE NSW to set up the Hotel Management Institute (HMI) in September 2012.

HMI provides students from around the world qualifications in hotel management.

This venture will boost economic activity in the Blue Mountains region, provide a robust education option for the international hospitality industry and provide an increased pool of trained staff ready to deliver a high standard of hospitality services across Escarpment Group properties.

We at Escarpment Group are truly committed to the Greater Blue Mountains region.
