The inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 Western Sydney will be held in Penrith this weekend with more than 1,900 athletes registered to take part, including approximately 100 competitors from overseas and 350 from interstate.
Set against the backdrop of the stunning Blue Mountains, and held at the world-class Sydney International Regatta Centre and Penrith Lakes, the IRONMAN 70.3 Western Sydney promises athletes a race of the highest standard, and gives visitors a chance to explore the surrounding region.
The bike course will include breathtaking mountain views and the final run leg of the race, which encircles the venue, will provide great access to spectators.
Athletes are also competing for one of 35 qualifying spots at the 2015 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Austria.
In addition to IRONMAN 70.3 Western Sydney, an associated IRONKIDS race is open to children aged 7-13 years and encourages the whole family to participate while fostering an early love of health and fitness.
