The Narooma Oyster Festival is receiving a $10,000 grant from the NSW Government’s Regional Flagship Events Program to support its marketing and advertising.
Held this year from 5-6 April, the Narooma Oyster Festival celebrates NSW South Coast oysters and their growers, the region’s natural clean quality produce, its chefs, and its rich artistic and cultural talents.
“I have seen Narooma Oyster Festival grow from its genesis to what is now, a wonderful regional festival supported by the wider community and providing enormous opportunities for local people,” Member for Bega Andrew Constance said.
Festival spokesperson Cath Peachey said the grant enables the festival to boost its marketing into the target demographics to attract more fine foodies and families to the festival.
“The festival features the world’s most environmentally sustainable oyster industry in estuaries from the Shoalhaven to the border,” Ms Peachey said.
“We now have well established partnerships with the oyster industry and the NSW Government, which will really enhance the festival.”
The Regional Flagship Events Program supports high quality events through a competitive grant process, administered by Destination NSW.
This is the third consecutive year Narooma Oyster Festival has received Flagship Event funding. It was one of only 29 events in NSW that received Flagship funding from the 130 that applied.
