Chang’an Tower |
The 2011 International Horticultural Exposition is being held in Xi'an, the capital city of Shaanxi Province, China. It opened on April 28th and closes on October 22nd 2011. This is a major event for horticulturalists, farmers, agriculture companies, agricultural equipment producers, plant breeders, and people who simply enjoy gardens and flowers.
Theme Pavilion |
The Four Landmarks, which include the 90 m high Chang’an Tower, Theme Pavilion, Greenhouse and Guangyun Entrance, and Special Service Zones, are the highlights in the Expo garden.
Various activities and continuous performances are held each week throughout the Expo for the enjoyment of visitors.
The followings are some fantastic activities and performances held recently:-
Guangyun Entrance |
- The Carnival: The Carnival opened on the right bank of Binjiang Road on August 20 2011 and has many amusement facilities.
- Benin Culture Week: Benin Culture Week showcased the activities that show Benin culture started at the Dielianhua Stage of the Xi’an International Horticultural Exposition with wonderful performances by Benin troupes on the night of August 21.
Victoria amazonica |
- The International Lotus and Aquatic Flowers Exhibition was held in the International Competition Hall from August 23 to August 25. This was the largest aquatic plants show held in Shaanxi province. Many new kinds of lotus and aquatic plants were showed at the exhibition. The photo shown is Victoria amazonica, which was the gold medal winner of the exhibition. Its diameter is more than two metres, and it can withstand the weight of three adults.

- The Superstar Concert: The superstar concert was held in Shaanxi Province Stadium on the night of August 28.
Many countries from around the world have feature gardens showcasing their plants. Unfortunately, Australia is not one of these countries.
The Xi’an International Horticultural Exposition will be close on October 22, 2011. There are still many days for visitors to enjoy the Expo.
