There is joy to be found from seeing one rose bush in full bloom. At the Annual Rose Spectacular to be staged at the Hunter Valley Gardens you will be full of joy as you view more than 35,000 roses comprising 125 different varieties. The total size of the Rose Garden is 1.5 acres with a centre garden of 50 meters in diameter. The rose bushes are featured in a corkscrew landscape design.
Exclusive to Hunter Valley Gardens is Rosa Imelda, a yellow flowering floribunda rose with a slight perfume especially commissioned by Bill Roche as a tribute to his wife, Imelda. The centerpiece of the Rose Garden is a series of sculptures depicting Imelda Roche with her grandchildren. This garden also can be referred to as the Grandmothers Garden or the Garden of Love. The sculptures are made of solid bronze and weigh between 200 and 500kg each.
