The Veranda Palmar Beach in Mauritius has re-opened following an extensive re-design and refurbishment

The Veranda Palmar Beach
The all-inclusive 3-star hotel, part of Veranda Resorts, has 77 rooms that represent ‘the Mauritian look and feel’ with natural elements, iconic bean-shaped pool, a new rum bar on the Belle Mare lagoon.

In collaboration with local artisans and artists, the hotel looks to celebrate the vibrant cultural and artistic spirit of Mauritius.

Mauritius is an island country in the Indian Ocean, about 2,000 kilometres off the coast of East Africa.

It includes the main island, also called Mauritius and Rodrigues, Agaléga, and St. Brandon.

The islands of Mauritius and Rodrigues, along with nearby Réunion are part of the Mascarene Islands.

The main island of Mauritius, where most of the people live, has the capital and largest city, Port Louis.

It is believed that Arab sailors first discovered the uninhabited island about 975, naming it Dina Arobi.

Capital Port Louis has sites such as the Champs de Mars horse track, Eureka plantation house and 18th-century Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Gardens.

Mauritius, is known for its beaches, lagoons and reefs, while mountainous interior includes Black River Gorges National Park, with rainforests, waterfalls, hiking trails and wildlife like the flying fox.

Mauritus has some of the world's rarest plants and animals, although human habitation and the introduction of non-native species have threatened its indigenous flora and fauna.
