Visitors are once again able to marvel at the spectacular Buchan Caves in East Gippsland which have been closed since last summer's bushfires.
The Buchan Caves are a 400-million-year-old labyrinth of caves that are one of Australia's most spectacular - rich in colour and adorned with still pools and a mesmerising latticework of stalagmite and stalactites.
Located in the alpine region of East Gippsland, the Buchan Caves Reserve is just 45 minutes' drive north of Lakes Entrance.
Just in time for Summer holidays, visitors can once again camp or stay in Caves House, picnic and enjoy a Cave Tour at the spectacular Buchan Caves in East Gippsland.
There is a Visitor Centre onsite to help you plan your trip, but due to restricted numbers all cave tour tickets must be purchased online prior to arrival. Online purchases close at midnight for the following day.
Buchan was heavily impacted by last summer's bushfires, but the vibrant and resilient community are rebuilding and welcoming visitors.
The Buchan Caves were closed for safety testing following the fires, received the all-clear but were then closed as part of Covid-19 restrictions on underground / confined spaces.
Severely fire-affected parts of the park remain closed, including several walking tracks.
