Margaret River artists open their studios
More than 110 painters, sculptors, illustrators, jewellers, printmakers, glassblowers, ceramicists, photographers and furniture makers based in the Margaret River region will open their studios to visitors, as part of the annual Margaret River Region Open Studios. From April 25 to May 10, visitors and art enthusiasts will have the rare chance to visit private art studios and meet established and emerging artists for a unique behind-the-scenes creative experience. Renowned local artists participating in this year's event include Leon Pericles, Rachel Coad, Lauren Wilhelm, Rebecca Cool, Mary-Lynne Stratton, Patricia Negus and Christian Fletcher. Works by some of the artists will be available to purchase exclusively from selected venues. The event is free to attend and bookings are not required.

Pete Evans to headline Mandurah Crab Fest
The coastal city of Mandurah – located an hour's drive from Perth – will welcome one of Australia's most recognisable chefs to its premier event, the Channel Seven Mandurah Crab Fest. Pete Evans will appear at a number of events and cooking displays over the two-day festival from March 14 to 15. A celebration of Mandurah's lifestyle, location and culture – as well as the native blue manna crab – the weekend festival will feature a variety of fun-filled activities, including live performances from international and local talent, and plenty of fresh food featuring crab-inspired dishes and local seafood.

Perth to host AFL Masters Carnival
Perth will play host to more than a thousand Australian Football League (AFL) players when they represent their state at the 2020 AFL Masters National Carnival. The eight-day men's and women's competition will run from September 26 to October 4, 2020, and is Australia's largest mass participation Australia Rules football carnival, with an average of 40 teams taking part. There will be day and night games played across two women's categories of over 33 years old and over 40, and six men's categories from over 35 to over 60.

Two of Perth's popular beaches will soon transform into spectacular sculpture parks showcasing works of art for visitors to enjoy. The Sculpture at Bathers event will return to Fremantle's Bathers Beach from February 15 to March 2. Sculptures by 95 West Australian artists will be on the beach, throughout the arts precinct and inside the heritage-listed Kidogo Arthouse – located near the popular Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour. Then from March 6 to 23 the iconic Cottesloe Beach will welcome the return of the annual Sculpture by the Sea. As one of Perth's largest free public events, visitors can expect to see more than 70 works on display from artists across Australia and the world.
