Tastes of the Trail to Showcase the Best of the Bellarine

Fresh produce from the Bellarine will be showcased at the inaugural Melbourne Food & Wine Festival event Tastes of the Trail.

The lunch, which will take place at the Barwon Heads Community Hall on Saturday 5 March, celebrates the bountiful produce that can be found on the Bellarine Taste Trail. From award-winning cool-climate wines, to beautiful olive groves, local mussels and much applauded cheese, The Bellarine has an incredible array of artisan producers whose products will feature on the menu.

Guests can expect dishes featuring ingredients such as Portarlington mussels, blueberries, Drysdale Cheese and tomatoes from Lonsdale Tomato Farm. Tickets to the lunch cost $98 with all three courses matched with local wine, beer and cider from the Bellarine.

The lunch will be hosted by Barwon Heads Winestore, in partnership with the Bellarine Taste Trail. Barwon Heads Winestore brings together the finest wines, beer and cider produced on the Bellarine Peninsula.

Erena Crowley, owner of Barwon Heads Winestore, is excited to showcase the very best the Bellarine region has to offer. “Barwon Heads Winestore is a new local independent wine store which celebrates and champions the drink makers and food producers of The Bellarine. We are excited to share our passion for the region by hosting Tastes of the Trail, allowing our guests to enjoy the boutique producers on our doorstep,” said Ms Crowley.

All dishes will be prepared by Annie's Kitchen, the catering arm of Barwon Heads institution, Annie's Provedore. Owner of Annie's Kitchen Catering, Andrea Orchard, is thrilled to be promoting the region as part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival.

“We take pride in delivering high quality catered events and can't wait to showcase the delicious local produce found on the Bellarine Taste Trail, at what is sure to be an amazing event” said Ms Orchard.

Tickets to the event include lucky door prizes and giveaways. Light entertainment will also be provided.
