ESCAPE TO THE DAINTREE RAINFOREST THIS EASTER

Daintree Discovery Centre
Discover the ancient wonders of the Daintree Rainforest this Easter long weekend with the World Heritage Listed area now open for business following Cyclone Ita last weekend.

Tourism Port Douglas and Daintree executive officer Doug Ryan said council staff and contractors, other agencies and local residents had worked tirelessly over the last five days to clear roads and resume full service of the Daintree River Ferry.

“The Daintree ferry was reopened to the public yesterday afternoon and both lanes of Cape Tribulation Road can be safely accessed, meaning the entire main road network has been cleared of fallen trees and debris.

“This is great news for operators in the region who are eagerly awaiting the Easter long weekend. We urge anyone planning to visit north of the river to please do so and not to change your plans.

“There is still plenty of accommodation available and with a great number of activities available from the Daintree Discovery Centre to jungle surfing and sea kayaking, the Daintree really offers a fantastic weekend escape.”

He also urged those travelling from interstate not to cancel their bookings with clear blue skies and fantastic conditions forecast for the next few days.
