Festival Lembah Ijen 2020 Started a Series of Tourism Events in Banyuwangi

Banyuwangi Regency immediately boosted the tourism sector in early 2020. According to Banyuwangi Tourism Department data there will be 123 festivals that will be held in 2020. Festival Lembah Ijen was the first festival, held on January 1 2020. 

Banyuwangi's fast movement in holding the festival aimed to boost tourists visit during New Year celebration. At the same time, Deputy Minister of Tourism Marketing I, Rizki Handayani shared an appreciation towards the Government of Banyuwangi.

According to Rizki, helding festival during New Year celebration is a great strategy to increase the tourists visit.

"This is a good strategy. We are all in a holiday atmosphere and Banyuwangi provides numerous attractions for tourists to visit," said Rizki on Friday (1/3/2020).

Regent of Banyuwangi, Abdullah Azwar Anas said that Festival Lembah Ijen 2020 took a main theme 'Heirs of the Legend of Gandrung'. "Its different from the previous months, this time the event was so special, thanks to the appearance of the Gandrung Banyuwangi maestros, including the infatuation of Poniti, Temumisti, Dartik, Supinah, and Sunasih," Azwar explained.

Festival Lembah Ijen 2020 was organized by the organizer of the Terrotta Gandrung Park. The goal of the event is to preserve and promote the iconic Banyuwangi Gandrung dance.

Gandrung Terakota Park itself is a 'ruwat care site' with Javanese art and culture ambience initiated by Sigit Pramono. Green hills and rice fields can be found as well inside the art galleries, amphitheaters, and of course thousands of Terracotta in the form of the figure of a crazy dancer.
