PHIL SCOTT AND CATHERINE ALCORN ANNOUNCE THEIR BRAND NEW SHOW 30 SOMETHING

  • SHE'S BEEN WOWING HOLLYWOOD! HE'S BEEN TOURING QUEANBEYAN.

Comedy legend Phil Scott and cabaret darling Catherine Alcorn join forces for the very first time premiering their brand new show 30 Something at the Hayes Theatre in October.

After a triumphant year touring the USA, Alcorn is thrilled to be making her Hayes debut alongside Scott. Alcorn said:

“After touring the US over the last year, I’m excited to be returning to home Sydney to in 30 Something. Creating this show with Phil has been so much fun. I’m honoured to be sharing a stage with him. I’m a huge fan of his work and it’s been an absolute joy to work together .”

Set on New Year’s Eve 1939 in bohemian Kings Cross, 30 Something will countdown the final hour of the year in real time, inviting you to step back in time to a very different era. Or is it? Politics, the great depression, booze…and that’s just in the dressing room!

What may look like a simple piece of throwback theatre soon reveals itself to be a cleverly disguised cabaret commentary on current issues: NSW’s war on arts and culture, the police state with it’s lock out laws and alcohol, prompting you to wonder “how far have we really come?”.

Using music to explore these themes, 30 Something features popular songs from the era along with a sprinkling of the contemporary, all marvellously rearranged from artists including Lady Gaga, Kylie, Phil Collins and Prince. Scott said:

“I've always loved the music of the 1930s, and I often wonder why popular music of today isn't more like it. We discovered it CAN be more like it! I'm very excited to be working on this special project with a talent like Catherine Alcorn. If you're going to do a cabaret show that is basically just a big party, I can't think of anyone better to party with! “

Join award-winning Maestro of mischief Phil Scott and powerhouse canary Catherine Alcorn for a thrilling joyride back to their 18 karat lounge act where you’ll soon see she’s 30 something and he’s…not.

“Alcorn is a master performer. Always alert to the throw, she pulls you down from the Gods or looks you in the eye in the front rows. With a voice like that, you can do anything!” - SYDNEY ARTS GUIDE
