In 2018 6,600 athletes and team officials will come to the Gold Coast to take part in the Commonwealth Games (GC2018). As a proud sports loving nation, they will feel right at home with the city's great facilities, meaning maximum opportunity for great competition.
Sport Program
The (GC2018) sports program will include 18 sports and seven para-sports. The sports program reflects the Commonwealth's 10 core sports and an additional eight optional sports. It has been carefully developed to provide a balance of sports, while considering potential athlete participation levels, spectator interest and international broadcast appeal.
The sports program has been developed in consultation with the Australian Commonwealth Games Association (ACGA), national and international sporting bodies and anticipated Commonwealth Games broadcasters. The sports program is being refined in consultation with the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) and the International Sport Federations.
