Lighting the Sails

The world-renowned projections on the Sails of the Sydney Opera House, a major highlight of Vivid Light, soar to new heights in 2016.

For the first time, the Sails will celebrate the world of Australian Indigenous art.

Songlines speaks directly to the spirituality and culture of Australia’s First Peoples, depicting the interconnected sharing systems and trade routes that still weave through time and distance, earth and sky.

Sydney Opera House Head of Indigenous Programming and Director ofSonglines, Rhoda Roberts, has selected six artists from different Aboriginal clans, national estates and territories whose work illustrates the connections between Indigenous astronomy and the natural world, the celestial and terrestrial songlines.
