A new promotional video for Tourism Australia's latest campaign showcases the stunning and familiar view of Hill Inlet and Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsundays.
Together with movie star Chris Hemsworth's gravelly narrative, the first scenes of the video reveal spectacular footage of Whitehaven Beach and an aerial view of Hill Inlet.
The Whitsundays is truly one of the stars of the video, which promotes Tourism Australia's Aquatic and Coastal campaign, launched recently in New York.
This exciting initiative makes the most of Australia's stunning and diverse coastline, from the tropical blue waters and Great Barrier Reef in Queensland, to the rugged shores and wild waves of the southern states.
Including footage of couples enjoying the brilliant white sands of world-famous Whitehaven Beach and the iconic view of Hill Inlet's swirling sands from the air, the video proves the Whitsundays is one of Australia's most beautiful coastal destinations.
The Great Barrier Reef is also heavily featured, with aerial shots of the reef from on board a helicopter and scenes showing people snorkelling and bareboating among the colourful corals of the fringing reefs surrounding the Whitsunday islands.
The Aquatic and Coastal campaign neatly ties in with Sir David Attenborough's recent documentary on the Great Barrier Reef, which screened in the United Kingdom on 31 December.
Attenborough's journey to the bottom of the Reef in a submersible has captured the imagination of thousands as he explores the wonders of the Reef up close and in detail.
Receiving rave reviews in the UK, the documentary also considers the impact of humankind on the earth's largest living organism and takes a measured look at its future.
At the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, the Whitsundays is the ultimate destination for any who wish to experience the beauty of the reef and our coastline.
Rebecca Nicol, General Manager of Tourism at the region's peak tourism board Whitsundays Marketing and Development, is thrilled with the video.
“Tourism Australia's video has really captured the awe and delight people feel when visiting the Whitsundays,” she said.
“You can see the wonder on people's faces as they walk on the beaches and snorkel the reef for the first time, or spend a night on a sailing boat.”
“The pristine natural landscape of the Whitsundays coastline is the perfect fit for this campaign.”
