Palace Museum to Limit Daily Visitors to 80,000

Forbidden City
In an effort to reduce overcrowding and improve guest experiences, Beijing’s Palace Museum, also known as the Forbidden City, will limit the number of visitors to 80,000 per day starting June 13 this year.

That date also marks China’s 10th Cultural Heritage Day.

Visitors to the Palace Museum can buy tickets online ahead of time.

The Palace Museum is so popular that its visitor numbers have surpassed the Louvre and other major world museums.

China is focusing on keeping guests’ experiences at the Museum positive, not only by limiting the number of visitors per day, but also with ongoing restorations, opening new sections of the grounds, and displaying never-before seen areas and relics.
