Japan is promoting its high tech toilets as they feel that it is a powerful tool to promote tourism. The growing popularity of the toilets with their smart technology is drawing lot of global attention.

Recently Haruko Arimura, minister in charge of women’s empowerment recommended that the government of Japan must use the toilets to boost tourism in the lead-up of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. She submitted a report to the government where she felt that the technology would serve a perfect tool to spread culture of the omotenashi (hospitality).

The toilets specialise in heated seats and bidet jets. Chinese tourists have purchased these toilets gifting themselves and friends the ultimate comfort of smart toilets for the Chinese New Year. More than 34 million toilets have been sold off globally.

The high-tech version washes from behind and — if desired — in front with water. Better models allow for temperature, direction and pressure control, and have retractable spritzing wands and automatic driers as well. The best feature warm seats, automatic motion sensors to raise the lid, buttons to raise the seat, nightlights, self-cleaning mechanisms, music to mask unpleasant sounds, deodorizer spritzers and other conveniences.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s felt that the toilets are particularly useful for women as they shorten the time a woman has to wait to use the bathroom.

The toilets can be controlled with smartphones. You can flush with your smartphone and also control the water pressure and bidet can be adjusted with the toilet’s control panel after downloading the app. The toilet makers TOTO showcased their latest toilet technology at the Narita International Airport in April where they displayed their latest toilet technology.
