'Chantara’ Restaurant Opens In Radisson

The Radisson Blu Resort Fiji, on Denarau Island in Nadi launched its authentic Thai dining restaurant ‘Chantara’ meaning ‘Moon Water’ in Thai was named after its location next to the waterfall in an open space under the moon.

The exquisite menu selection has been handpicked by a specialty Thai chef, Pitchayapon Thiptham.

All the way from Chiangmai in Northern Thailand, the chef has been to Bangkok, Netherlands and Switzerland.

Locally sourced ingredients such as herbs and spices feature the popular Thai dishes available at ‘Chantara’.

The introduction of the new Thai restaurant meant a farewell to the former water court restaurant.

The general manager of Radisson Blu, Gerard Knight, was delighted to see the invited guests who came in to support.

“This isn’t a soft opening of Chantara but it is also not the grand opening of Chantara because it is just introducing the local people to the new cuisine,” he said.

In eight weeks time, Radisson will open their signature Blu restaurant, Chantara, Orchid Lounge and other things they have put together in the last 12 months.

“We have built an interior kitchen and an exterior kitchen and would like to thank those who remodelled the bar into a restaurant,” Mr Knight said.

The director of food and beverage, Hani Daher, who arrived last July, was appreciated for his work.

“In a very short space of time he achieved a huge amount, and this is because of your passion to make Chantara the best,” Mr Knight said.

Other people who were involved in the upgrade were also thanked by the general manager personally.

Truman Bradley, Chairman of Tourism Fiji and Investment Fiji officiated the ribbon cutting to mark the opening.

With the ability to cater 80 people at any one time it also offers cafe style breakfast and lunch daily until the afternoon.

The restaurant started its operations in early January this year and has already been ranked in third spot on Tripadvisor.
