Visit Italy Newsletter - Happy New Year!

Although 2021 is already a couple of weeks old, The Italian National Tourist Board welcomes you back from the holiday season and wishes all of its readers and supporters a healthy and happy year ahead.

Our New Year's resolution this year was simple: Travel to Italy, so let's hope that international travel is not too far off! In the meantime though, we will Imagine Now, and Travel Later. #wait4IT #waitforitalia #treasureitaly

This year, in particular, we celebrate Dante Alighieri, as 2021 marks the 700th anniversary from the death of the Father of the Italian Language. Stay tuned for a program of commemorative events to unfold during the year.

Year of Dante (1265-1321)

Dante, in full Dante Alighieri, was an Italian poet, prose writer, literary theorist, moral philosopher, and political thinker.

He is best known for the monumental epic poem La divina commedia (The Divine Comedy).

Le vie di Dante - Roads of Dante

Twenty-one legs and a 395 kilometre-long route, from Dante's birthplace in Florence to his tomb in Ravenna: Le Vie di Dante (Roads of Dante), is an exciting tour that retraces the exile of the "father" of the Italian language. Lonely Planet included this route in its Best in Travel for 2021 as best “Cultural walk” among the sustainable tourism experiences awarded.
