Mr. Jong-Deok Kim, Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism (MCST) said upon the launch of 'Visit Korea Year 2016-2018' in Seoul “We hope the Korea Grand Sale will be a leading promotion to attract 20 million foreign tourists to Korea and revitalize both Korean tourism and the domestic economy.”
The Korea Grand Sale coincides with the Lunar New Year when many Asians will be visiting Korea during the holiday from 8-10 February. The Korea Grand Sale runs through till 29th February, 2016.
During the Korea Grand Sale, foreign tourists will be able to enjoy many special offers including the Buy One, Get One(BOGO) promotion on ‘K-Travel Bus,’ which is a bus travel package to visit various cities outside of Seoul. ‘Shilla Stay’ offers up to 50% discount on guest rooms, free guest room upgrade, and the BOGO promotion on breakfast. Moreover, ‘Hyundai I-Park Mall’ will provide free dried seaweed gift sets and free admissions to the ice skating rink. Tourist can also save up to 50% at ‘Etude House’, and 30% on one-day pass and admissions to the ice skating rink at ‘Lotte World’.
Also, the MCST will actively use the Korean Wave contents by cooperating with VKC to attract more foreign tourists. Last year’s successful ‘Shopping Date with a K-POP Star’ program, which combined the pleasure of shopping and K-wave, will be offered with other Korean celebrities to attract more K-wave fans. The winners of the online event will receive free round-trip flight tickets, hotel vouchers and will get an opportunity to have a one-day date with a Korean star.
For the convenience of foreign tourists, the mobile Tourist Service Center will also visit major shopping zones such as Myeongdong, Dongdaemun, Yongsan, and Hongdaeto to provide free interpreting service, information service and free Wi-Fi.
