The Maldives is reporting strong bookings out of Australia as this popular holiday destination continues be a major drawcard for its wonderful array of accommodation, dining and spa experiences plus diving and surfing, which are of huge appeal, and the honeymoon market, providing a sizeable slice of business.
Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) appointed The Unique Tourism Collection as Australian representative in July 2015 to increase engagement in sales, marketing and promotional activity with industry partners and the media to drive more business to the destination.
MMPRC is the national tourism office of Maldives responsible for carrying out promotional activities to become the most preferred island destination of the world under the theme of Maldives...the Sunny Side of Life.
The office also adheres to its mission to promote quality and sustainable growth in the local tourism industry to deliver long term economic, social and cultural benefits to the country.
MMPRC Deputy Managing Director, Mohamed Adam, said arrivals from Australia year to date from January to September had topped the 15,000 mark representing an increase of 17 per cent over the past two years.
“This is a great result for us and our new presence with The Unique Tourism Collection will be integral to our objective of increasing arrivals from this market to 25,000 next year,” Mr Adam said.
Meanwhile the countdown is on to Visit Maldives Year 2016 which is designed to strengthen the brand and position Maldives as an exclusive tourist destination by showcasing the island's diversified tourism product. This is also designed to foster better solidarity, harmony and wellbeing for the people of Maldives, encourage economic growth and increase job opportunities for locals from across the country in the tourism sector.
